Just a week ago, Xilinx announced the arrival of Radiation Tolerant (RT) Kintex UltraScale (XQRKU060), our newest addition to the Space-Grade (XQR) portfolio. The new device enables a broader array of functionality and delivers a significant increase in performance compared to our previous generations and other FPGA vendors. By adding an UltraScale device, we are skipping three process nodes from 65nm to 20nm. The product table below shows how RT Kintex® UltraScale™ stacks up to our previous XQR devices, Virtex®-4QV (V4QV) and Virtex-5QV (V5QV).

Super Resolution refers to the process of reconstructing a higher-resolution image or sequence from the observed lower – resolution images. An image may have a “lower resolution” due to a smaller spatial resolution (i.e., size) or due to a result of degradation (such as blurring). It has a wide range of applications including but not limited to satellite imaging, medical imaging, video surveillance as well as video streaming which is the primary focus of this article.

As next-generation networks are deployed to support an increasingly diverse mix of high-bandwidth applications, network vendors and data center operators need to rapidly scale packet processing capability while both minimizing capex/opex and preserving the flexibility to adapt to future connectivity standards. To meet these requirements, Xilinx is excited to announce the latest addition to the Kintex® UltraScale+™ FPGA portfolio: the Kintex UltraScale+ KU19P FPGA. The KU19P FPGA delivers the optimized mix of resources and high-throughput connectivity needed to efficiently accelerate network processing while maintaining the strong balance of performance, price, and power inherent to the entire Kintex FPGA portfolio.
