With the public announcement of the Kria SOM portfolio in April, came many new edge applications on the Xilinx App Store. As a one-stop-shop platform that hosts, markets, and sells great applications from Xilinx ecosystem partners, the App Store now offers accelerated apps & IP cores for both edge and cloud. Uncanny Vision is among one of the earliest Kria SOM users that developed their own ALPR solution with the KV260 starter kit and is now selling on the Xilinx App Store.
Two new downloadable apps that can significantly cut development time of certain industrial applications are now available from AMD’s Kria™ App Store. Used in conjunction with AMD’s modestly priced Kria KR260 Robotics Starter Kit (US$349), these apps that were developed for the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS certified KR260 boards, help developers build complex, hardware-accelerated industrial systems with minimal Linux and no FPGA expertise required.

At Xilinx Adapt 2021 last week, Victor Mayoral Vilches, Robotics and Cybersecurity System Architect at Xilinx, introduced the Kria™ robotics stack (KRS). You can still register and watch (On-Demand) both his presentations--Bringing Adaptive Computing to Robotics and ROS 2 Acceleration from Adapt 2021. The latter introduces KRS as an integrated set of robot libraries and utilities that use hardware to accelerate the development, maintenance, and commercialization of industrial-grade robotic solutions targeting Kria SOMs. It adopts the Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) Software Development Kit (SDK) and enables a ROS 2-centric development approach.
