We are pleased to announce the AMD Alveo™ Media Acceleration portfolio (AMA) SDK 1.2 release—further expanding the AMD Alveo MA35D media accelerator capabilities.
SDK 1.2
In this release the SDK now supports:
- jpeg images in the video pipeline via decoding of still jpeg images through to encoding a video to still jpeg images
- Running more complex ABR ladders that expend across multiple devices—making it easier for you to implement ladders that exceed the encoding capabilities of a single device
Video Quality
Video quality is improved with:
- A new -cabr encoding mode. In this mode, the encoder will cap content to VMAF ~= 90, saving bits on simple content
- A preview of an ML-aware content encoding mode that adjusts bitrate based on frame complexity
OS Support
The SDK offers more host machine flexibility with expanded OS support including:
- Support for Fedora 40 using the 6.9 kernel, adding another supported OS choice
- A new firmware providing PCI® passthrough support, increasing VM flexibility
Additional Updates
The release provides additional updates including:
- An upgrade of ffmpeg to the 6.1.1 release
- A revamp of the 2D pixel processing filters providing simpler easier to use command lines
- A revamp of card management utilities, improving the output and capabilities
