Hey all!
I'm building my wife a new PC. I'll be installing a Ryzen 5 5600GT processor and the motherboard we'll be using is a Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite rev. 1.0.
I've got no idea what BIOS version is installed because I haven't gotten the system put together yet, but I'm just trying to get some info to get everything prepared and ready. The motherboard is Ryzen 3000 ready, and I'll be using my Ryzen 9 3900X at first in order to get my wife's motherboard updated.
Since I'm not sure, I'm going to assume the worst case scenario, that the BIOS version is at the earliest which would be F1. I need to get up to at least F62 in order to use her 5600GT chip and then preferably the newest release which is F67b. Could anyone assist me on the correct BIOS flash process?

I know there are certain instructions before you get to F40, but I'm just trying to get my head around the whole process and make sure I'm prepared before I start this build.
Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Went to Gigabyte Support for your Motherboard and went to its CPU LIST: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-ELITE-rev-1x/support#support-cpu
You are correct you need to update your Motherboard's BIOS version to F62 or newer.
According to your Motherboard's BIOS download page F62 was released for download on 07/22/2023. If you purchased your Gigabyte Motherboard after August 2023 or later it should have the correct BIOS version installed unless they sold you an older Motherboard manufactured before July 2023.
Make sure you have the latest AMD CHIPSET drivers installed before updating your BIOS from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/chipsets/am4/b450.html
Also you need to purchase RAM that would be compatible with the new 5600GT. I would choose a RAM set from your motherboard's QVL LIST for RAM: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-ELITE-rev-1x/support#support-doc
Your AMD Processor is a Cezanne Processor but I don't see any RAM list for Cezanne at your Motherboard QVL Lists. I would open a Gigabyte Support ticket and ask which QVL List you need to see to be able to purchase compatible RAM Set memory for your Cezanne AMD Processor APU ( with IGPU).
Now to answer your question on how to Flash your BIOS to upgrade it. From your Motherboard's Manual:
I highly suggest you use Gigabtye Q-FLASH app to upgrade the BIOS. Using Windows (@BIOS UTILITY) is riskier than using Q_FLASH. If you use Windows and for some reason Windows freezes or crashes you are might end up with a non-operating motherboard due to corrupted BIOS installation being interrupted.
Here is a Aorus Website that gives you step by step instructions on how to use Q-FLASH Utility: https://global.aorus.com/blog/How-to-Update-Your-BIOS-Part-2.php
EDIT: I suggest you purchase a more powerful CPU Cooler than the one that comes bundled with the Ryzen 5600 GT which is the AMD Stealth CPU Cooler.
The Stealth is fine for normal computer use but it will run your processor slightly hotter than normal than with a more powerful 3rd Party CPU Cooler.

Thank you for your info. I actually completed the build a few days ago and it went well. Upon booting up the computer, I found that the motherboard came with BIOS version F41. I followed some other advice I received, and went from F41 to F50, then to F62. Everything worked great, and the new CPU is working perfectly.
You're right about the cooler. I don't really think the Wraith Stealth is powerful enough to cool properly. I had an extra Wraith Prism laying around, so I installed that. My wife's computer idles at about 28 degrees with that cooler installed, which I'm happy with.
Having learned from experience, I know that finding RAM to work with AMD can be tricky. I bought some RAM that I thought would be good. It worked fine, and I was able to set the XMP profile to run it at the full clock speed. Everything is stable, and no blue screens!
I appreciate the response with all the info. I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I needed to do, I just wanted to get a second opinion to be sure.
The AMD Prism is a good CPU Cooler for your new Ryzen processor.
FYI: The AMD Prism has a two setting tiny black switch on the side of the CPU Cooler. One is "Quiet" mode and the other is "Performance" mode.
Quiet Mode the Prism fans run slower and quieter while the Performance mode the Prism fans runs at maximum when needed.
