i5 equivalent

I have an older laptop which has a AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 925 Processor 2.80 GHz. The programme I want to run requires an i5 or equivalent. Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding an equivalent that would replace my present processor?

Thanks

Dude, there are already 13 different generations of i5's, you have to tell which specific model the software/game requires.

In addition, the most important question - how do you plan on replacing your CPU?

You do realise that AMD and Intel processors are not interchangeable? You do realise that in many laptops the CPU is soldered directly onto the board and changing it will require a lot of specialised technical work? You do  realise that even if you can safely remove the previous CPU from a laptop's board you can only upgrade to another CPU from AMD that shares the socket?

rodis, I suggest you run the program and see how it does on your machine. Your processor may be soldered into the  board and not replaceable. Enjoy, John.

I am so sorry, I have no idea why I wrote laptop (senior moment), it’s for my desktop. The software is Traktor Pro 3, DJ software. It works on my laptop but I want it on my desktop. I installed it but it won’t run saying “major problem “ and I can only surmise that my CPU is the problem. As for i5, that’s all that’s given.

Anyway, thanks for looking at my problem.

I'm also sorry for wasting your time. I was stumped originally of how or where to look but with a little more patience I have found the only upgrade I can do, with my AM3 socket, is one of the following.

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black
AMD Phenom II X6 1075T
AMD Phenom II X4 955

rodisi, no problem. I think you need to learn more about the problem. Please post a screenshot of the error message and I suggest a call to the developers of the application. "major problem" means nothing and replacing the processor may do nothing. It could be the program is dependent on something and not even the processor. Please see if you can get that information before striking off. I used to run a Phenom and liked it but have little memory for it. Processors have been and continue adding instructions to their repertoire. The application may be dependent on a newer one. Please let us hear. Thanks and enjoy, John.

The error "major problem" might not be tied to the CPU particularly, you have to provide more details, as misterj has already said.

It'd be nice if you could provide us with the specs of your PC - you can do this by downloading a little useful utility software called HWiNFO (there are other similar ones, but this one is convenient) and posting a screenshot of the "summary" tab when it opens on your desktop. Attached some examples for better understanding.

HWiNFO has been in my utilities folder probably for the last 20 years. Thanks.

Need to post your PC information including your GPU card and RAM installed.

To answer you question directly according to this Tech Site the equivalent Intel processor for your Phenom is the  Intel Core I3-3225 CPU: https://technical.city/en/cpu/Core-i5-2400-vs-Phenom-II-X4-925

Thank you all in taking the time and making the effort to reply to my problem. I finally managed to contact NI’s support, who suggested I install their newer beta version software with no added reason. I have no idea why but the programme worked. Again, thank you all.
