BIOS VERSION: 2.10 - Update AGESA to ComboAM5 1.1.0.3
OS: Windows 11 Version 23H2
AMD DRIVERS VERSION (LAST): Adrenalin 24.5.1 (WHQL Recommended)
Error: BLACK SCREEN THEM AMD DRIVER TIMEOUT.
Reproducing ERROR: There is not time to happen, but when i using chrome, like youtube, seeing videos, editing in PH, playing games, in a random time could be as soon i open or later 6 hours of use, it pop ups the error. First got a Black Screen and them a AMD ADRENALIN MSG that Drivers timeout.
Any ideas? what could i do? anyone is happening same? maybe is a problema with the IGPU Of my New Ryzen?
List of things i already did:
* UpdateD all (windows and amd drivers)
* USE DDU to uninstall, start up in safety mode and them install drivers.
* Up to 4 g VRAM (It was on AUTO - getting 500mb)
* Updated BIOS
* Swap memory ram from slot a1 to b1 and b1 to a1 (there is only one module)
Things may be doing if not getting any help:
* Buying another ram? i think is more stable using 2 modules instead of only one (i had ryzen 3 3200g, not black screen problems but 2 modules using dual channel increase it performance)
* Last i wanted to do: Claim to supplier for a new Ryzen and returning back the one i got.
Ideas?
astroz777, please do a Clear CMOS and stay out of BIOS. If you have two sticks of memory, try one at a time. If you did not get your AMD drivers here, please do. You are far from RMAing anything. Please look in Event Viewer and post the BASIC tab for a few CRITICAL errors. Please post a screenshot of Ryzen Master (RM) running Cinebench R24 multicore. Thanks and enjoy, John.

Using only a single stick of 16GB DDR5-5600 CL46 is very bad for performance. Operating in 64bit single channel rather than 128bit dual channel means you are restricting the system to half of the available bandwidth of the IMC. Plus the timings of CL46 are very poor, for literally only a few dollars more you could have DDR5-6000 with CL38 or even better CL30.
Since the IGP of the 8600G uses system memory for graphics performance it is even more important to have the best memory you can reasonably afford especially as you are using the system for gaming.
FYI manually adjusting the UMA Buffer from default 512MB to 2GB gives only a minor improvement to performance. Going higher than 2GB has virtually no improvement to performance.

Understood. The error is related to graphics. The graphics are using system memory, which is not in a recommended configuration.

What is your complete equipment? And the monitor?

Problem solved !!! The authorized service sent me a new product under warranty. The new product work smoothly.
Place the memories as indicated in the motherboard manual, then leave them in standard mode without touching anything. Go to the option that allows you to indicate the amount of memory that the graphics will use and enable a static value (for example, 2 GB). Is your monitor HDMI or DP?
test the memories on TM5 with profile 1usmus_v3. If it passes, it is not memory in standard mode. Spend some time without touching anything to see if a black screen occurs. If it doesn't happen, start optimizing other parameters, but don't change anything in the memories leaving them at the default that the BIOS found. Keep note of the behavior. If nothing happens, you can try to optimize the memory little by little, taking note of what happens.

As per your suggestion, I have set my RAM to default settings (4800 MHz, disabled EXPO), and I will observe how things go.
It has been almost a week, and the black screen error has not reoccurred. Solution: Disabled EXPO profile, seems the iGPU cannot handle 6000MHz RAM while YT is full of videos suggesting 6000+ MHz mem for 8600G.
try a more updated version of your motherboard's BIOS, if there are problems, report it to the motherboard manufacturer so that they can fix it in new versions and do this soon, because with new releases these manufacturers tend to stop supporting products old ones.
the memory timings, when XMP or EXPO do not work, must be adjusted manually and one by one. This also happens to those who have Intel processors with DDR5 and tends to improve as more users report problems with tests and screenshots on the motherboard forums. Another thing is also regarding support from the DDR5 manufacturer you are using, you can contact them and ask them to resolve this problem together with AMD and the motherboard manufacturer, as no user is forced to find the solution alone. solution and your product must still be under warranty.
In my case, I have been requesting help from the manufacturer of the DDR5 I have and the evolution was slow and gradual, with BIOS versions that did not allow BOOT, and I had to contact the motherboard manufacturer to improve support, which is why I have been following developments and providing as much data as I can so that they can assess what has worsened and what can be adjusted.

6. another experiments running and stop services in windows (always rollback if failed)
none of above making my PC Desktop Running in Good and Stabil Condition
sometimes it hung and throw amduwg23 stop responding (but usually after this log appear display return normal and I can use this PC), and most annoying it turn black (all my screen -- of course with combination of 3 screen and its connection above), I lost my saves Doc (fool I am using this abnormal PC for my works).
sometimes it also BSOD with HYPERVISOR__ERROR. during this writing it takes me to reset my PC 4 times.
I use my PC only for works (not for gaming).
I cant reproduce this issue as my will. sometimes I can use this PC for more then 8 hour, but when I restart it, usually I need more then 5 times reseting my PC. most often I cant use it.
hopefully someone else could break this issue. does installing some external VGA could solved this problem ? if yes so I'll immediately bought some nvidia dVGA.

First, you need to test the stability of the memory at least at the lowest clock standard, which is automatically configured when you turn on the computer, without changing anything. The JEDEC standard has to work, if it doesn't it becomes difficult to do other things and the RMA has to be done. Furthermore, even if you manage to resolve it through a maneuver, such as using a static value for the amount of DDR5 memory that the internal graphics will use, you can request RMA, because the processor should be able to work well even if the dynamic memory is selected.
hi, fortunately My driver timed out problem has gone away after I :
1. set UMA_SPECIFIED with 8G RAM allocated
2. downgrade adrenaline 24.7 becomes 24.6
3. disable issue detection (some forum said that this feature will restart the driver whenever error detecting, so its better stutering then timedout)
4. enable openGL Triple Buffering
5. diasble hyper_v (after I've done step 1-4 , my computer still become BSOD Hypervisor_error)
6. once I disable SMT, but my PC keep BSOD with hyperv_error even I disabled it. so I re-enable SMT.
7. I set PBO+TJMax85 + -30mv curve optim (realy dont understand actually but just try and error).
8. on chrome://flags enable override software rendering list
I dont know which one activity above has big impact on my PC. since I've been spent a lot of time I decide to keep this current setting (really desperate spending almost 2 weeks since I bought this PC)

I am facing similar problem on my 8600G, and I am using single channel RAM (16GB, 6000MHz).
VRAM is set to 2GB. How to resolve the sudden black screen problem?
Maybe your problem is one of stability, not whether of the memory is in static or dynamic mode. To isolate the problem, first set the memory to JEDEC standard with XMP or EXPO disabled. Set the iGPU memory setting to static mode at whatever amount you see fit, as it doesn't matter and shouldn't interfere, but for testing, leave a value of 1GB. Then, run a memory testing application like TM5 with the 1usmus v3 profile. Then, optimize the other parameters without touching the memories, saving and writing them down. Finally, test memory optimization. In my experience, it is possible for XMP parameters that previously worked to no longer work or even happen with EXPO. In these cases, you either search for the best configuration by hand or request support from the memory manufacturer to contact AMD to resolve the problem in a new BIOS release.
There are a lot of people that bought this processor, that are having the same problem.
I tried everything. Nothing works for me. I didn't find nobody that have solved it.
The only thing that "worked" for me was to deactivate the graphics drivers to be able to work. Which it makes me wonder. How the hell the PC works better with no GPU running?

What power supply make and model are you using?

For anyone who reads this. It's not the power supply, obviously. It's 99% sure that the processor that came defective. So, change it if you are under warranty
Regardless if the CPU is defective now or not .. or the PSU actually caused the issue or not .. OP should still invest in a quality power supply
I think AMD has a BUNCH of bad 8600Gs. I just went through 3 motherboards and three 8600Gs.
I am building 2 builds for a client.
I ordered two Gigabyte B650M DSHP Motherboards and two AMD 8600Gs. One pair would boot the other would not. Did the QFlash thing and what not. Nothing mattered. Ordered a replacement motherboard and focused on the working pair. It was when I went to install the display driver that I ran into a new problem. The system immediately black screened and crashed after about 60 seconds. This happened on fresh installed of both Windows 10 and 11. Nothing but the basics on the BIOS, not even Expo or AMP turned on. Even tried an upgraded install from 10 to 11 for the hell of it.
I reached out to AMD whom told me this sounded really strange.
Meanwhile the new motherboard shows up and I pop the CPU from the none working build into it, QFlash the BIOS and nothing. Tired some other new RAM and the RAM from the working build; nothing. What gives?? Ordered a new 8600G.
New 8600G shows up and I put it into the non working build. It post, boots , and the display driver installs no problem.
I put the original working builds CPU in and it crashes. Put the new CPU back in and it works.
I have built roughly 800 AMD builds in my life and only had 3 bad AMD CPUs, and suspected 2 more. Since the first of the year, I have one AMD CPU failure and now it looks like two more bad AMD CPUs. Something is not right with these.
impedance adjustments that can be complicated to find, you have to test each value and observe whether the system is more or less stable, it involves considerable work. Generally the best watch has to be obtained by hand through persistence or it stays at the basic standard 4800MTs. Changing the DDR5 timings also helps, but you need to understand what is being done, but remember that the larger the clock, the more difficult it is to have stability with tighter timings.
I hope that AMD will be able to test more and release new, more stable BIOS versions, however, with new releases coming, like Zen 5, it is certain that we will still have some problems. And with so many changes that have already occurred, some tips posted previously are no longer valid.
Well the I sent the processors back to AMD after I examined them a bit. Was not hard to see the issue. Pads miss aligned on the bottom of the processor and touching each other.
Strange that AMD just pulled back all of the 8000 series for a packaging issue, and insisting that the problem is not with the design or assembly of the processors.
Sounds like maybe the same issue.
Yes it takes some work to stabalize builds with higher clock speeds and tight timings. But, when a system crashes when initializing it's full iGPU, and a replacement CPU does not have the same issue, that is not a speed or timing issue, if everything is set to stock settings and basically running at much slower speeds and relaxed timings.
Maybe there are cases like this with a mechanical defect, so there is no way to try to get around it and the RMA is the only immediate way. The cushions should not come off easily and a user may have difficulty observing this problem, so I hope the manufacturer improves the quality of its products so that this type of problem does not recur so easily.

and i did all for try to get a solution, but the desktop don't stop to crash out.
i tried changing the hz from 144hz to 60hz monitor.
changin all options and combinations in amd adrenaline, but all the time i'am getting crashes, when i saw a video, when i play, when i am meeting. the true amd 8600g feels it like a trash.
Try your IGPU memory option to 2GB by force on your BIOS settings.
I think it works on my computer. I am also using 8600g cpu and had this issue.
After changing the option, it seems stable.
1. Set default restore on BIOS setting
2. Set IGPU memory to 2GB by force on your BIOS settings.

im facing exactly the same problem
amd 5 8699g and when im playing games everything is fine but when the pc is idle or im browsing i get a black screen and then it locks for some moments then comes back to life again.i have a gigabyte mobo b650 gaming x ax v2 ,brand new setup.
what works for me is a setting in the bios about core performance boost.i disabled this and now the system is stable.i dont know how big the performance impact is now though but at least it looks stable now.
So im wondering is it a cpu problem or a motherboard problem?
