Hey Gamers!

I still have a computer with an AMD FX-8350 from like 11 years ago. I'm still pretty impressed with it all these years later.

Anyhow, I think the processor itself is still good. However, my PC is starting to have issues when first turning on. It doesn't get any sort of display and I have to power cycle it numerous times and then I'll get lucky and everything will boot as normal. I initially thought it was my graphics card so I swapped it out for another and the issue persisted.

If anyone has other ideas as to what could be wrong I'd love to hear them but otherwise I am going to go ahead with a motherboard replacement.

Can anyone recommend a good motherboard for such an old CPU?

I would re-do the cabling, re-seat the hardware like memory modules, something could be out of place not providing enought eletrical contact. The PSU could be a factor however the probabilities lie with the board.

Try resetting BIOS to defaults or CMOS clear and change the battery too, could be old enough.

If all fails, either you go for a used cheap AM3+ board, with some luck maybe you'll grab something under 20.

Thanks for your reply. All of this sounds like a great idea. I suppose I was sort of trying to avoid the work but tearing it all apart and reassembling probably isn't a bad idea. She's pretty dusty so a bit of a cleanup can't hurt.
