So I built a new AMD build with an ASUS Crosshair X870E mobo, RTX 4090, Corsair AX 1600i PSU, 32 gb g.skill DDR 8000 and AMD 9800X3D on a custom watercooled build (EK blocks/3 x 360 rads). It was running fine for two weeks, then yesterday I got an immediate shutdown while playing Warzone. At first I thought it was a fluke and kept playing and it again shutdown after 10 minutes. At that point I got concerned and thought maybe the PSU or ram was faulty. I pulled both out and put my spares in and the PC booted. So I figured, ok either my ram or PSU was bad. Except when I loaded up a game, the PC shut down immediately again. So I started thinking maybe the IMC is bad on the CPU so I turned on Expo on the ram I had just put in and sure enough, the cpu instantly shut down when loading windows 11. Really disappointed with this, I haven't taken the PC fully apart yet but I will be tomorrow and I've already opened an RMA with AMD. Keep an eye on your IMCs, I made sure my vsoc was always low (1.05v) so I'm really unsure what did this CPU in, guess it was just defective from the start. Also before you ask, no it never overheated, it was always super cool w/my WC setup (upper 50s-60s during load).
