7800X3D with A620 motherboard with 5+2+2 Phases Digital VRM

I want to go with A620 motherboard with 5+2+2 Phases Digital VRM. How much does that impact my 7800X3D performance?

The motherboard I want to buy is this.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0C4CKFV65/

Is it okay if I pair 7800X3D with the above A620 motherboard?

Thank you!

The 7800X3D is a 120W CPU. When it comes to A620 motherboards, some are limited to 65W while others support 120W. You need to check their product pages to make sure you are getting a 120W motherboard so it doesn't limit the performance of your 7800X3D.

In your case, that Gigabyte motherboard officially lists the 7800X3D as a supported processor at 120W so you should be fine to pair them.

Also here's a really informative video to learn more about pairing a 7800X3D with an A620 motherboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMKV1Cm25KQ

I wouldnt consider pairing such CPU with a board like that. Even if technically is possible.

Beware TDP does not mean all that much, but VRM configuration does and can affect its boost capabilities.

My 2700X with a TDP of 105 had a nominal power draw of around 140ish watts. With a little Tweaking it jumped to +160watt. I had a 12+4 just to be sure.

I would try at least a mid tier B650e to keep the CPU at its best.

Good luck
