i just got a new laptop a few days ago and i need a bit of help.
im running an amd ryzen 5500u 6 core cpu with amd radeon graphics, and nvidia geforce mx450, 512gb ssd.
i am running windows 11
i was playing halo 4 in the mcc game via the hdmi port and i was getting some tearing so after lowering the settings i plugged the laptop in and went to the desktop to change the power profile to performance and the settings window immediately crashed and closed, i clicked settings again and i got an unreal d3d device removed error and my hdmi port stopped outputting, explorer and halo mcc crashed as well.
i restarted windows and the hdmi port started working again, i started looking for error reports and i cant find the actual report for the d3d error but i saw a bunch of explorer errors and one for the radeon gpu around the time it crashed, it loooks like the system was using the integrated gpu to drive halo mcc as well
so is there more error reports i have missed, and does this sound like a software/windows 11 glitch, or a hardware failure? if its hardware related i can still exchange this for another one for a few more days.
