Description of Original Problem:
When playing certain games, the videos seem to flicker with green pixels and stutter - see attached videos from Plague Tale Requiem and Atomic Heart. Both those games loop those tutorial videos and the second time they are played, they work correctly, they are broken and flicker first time and even that not 100% of the time.
Watching YouTube while gaming is not possible, the video stutters too much. Disabling "Hardware-accelerated video decode" flag in browser seems to do the trick in fixing that one, but in gaming no such option is present.
Other notes and observations:
This issue is not observed when I insert my old RX 6600X GPU into my PC. The frame rate is terrible, but at least the video work normally.
This issue does not happen when using Fedora Core 41 Linux with Steam and proton v9.0 layer. Who would have though that gaming on Linux would be better than on Windows these days.
I did memory test of my GPU in Linux and is passed without any issues. No artefacting is observed in gaming, just the videos are completely broken in some games. I assume those games use hardware accelerated video decoding, but can't be 100% certain.
Troubleshooting:
- I've tried DDU and clean install of latest drivers 24.12.1
- I've tried DDU and install old driver 23.12.1
- I've tried clearing CMOS and running at JDEC spec of RAM
- I've tried disabling AMD FreeSync
- I've tried lowering clocks of GPU in AMD Adrenaline
