2 RX 7900 XTX using MGPU? Possibility and Usefulness

Hello,

since most info about MGPU is about old GPUs for rather obvious reason, I wanted to ask directly.

Is it possible to use two 7900 XTXs at the same time and does it have any impact in gaming performance? As far as I have read, two GPUs simply split up different tasks between one another. One renders the game and another renders whatever else might be there. But what if I only play the game and don‘t have anything else going on? Anything else you might know about MGPU is welcomed too.

Thanks in advance for possible answers,
-Greetings

So I found these benchmark results from somebody using a 6000 series card

Especially in 4k there seem to be a dramatic advantage to mgpu performance

I recently purchased a Samsung Odyssey G9 neo which cannot be fully driven by any modern flagship GPU yet @ 4k+4k 240hz

The 4090 is limited to 120 hertz by the older DisplayPort standard

The 7900 XTX (which I recently ordered) has 2.1 DisplayPort standard so it has higher bandwidth to drive the screen at full resolution but still won't be able to reach maximum frame rates

I'm hoping to find someone who has benchmarked the RX 7900 XTX cards in mgpu configuration @4k in comparison to 4090 benchmarks before I commit to another $900 GPU

If you found any additional information since your search last October I'd be very interested

You have to have a crossfire and/or sli compatible motherboard. And then you have to have a crossfire enabled game or be happy playing a lot of 3dMark. Very few applications support crossfire or MGPU (as its called now) Rise of the Tomb Raider.---https://youtu.be/J0tRFSaQC48  My Finest and finale use of MPGU. But I don't buy motherboard not capable of crossfire.

I have found so little about it that I ceased to believe that it even works in the first place. But as @stokesjrj1 already said: Barely anything supports MGPU anyway, so using it for new games does indeed simply not exist
