Today I purchased a driver updater. After running it for the first time, it said it needed to restart to install the latest version of the AMD driver. Upon restarting, the screen view was destroyed, I've now had to reset the screen size to enable me to view anything useful, the left hand end of the screen had disappeared so I was struggling to do anything.
I've tried to automatically download and install the latest AMD driver, but the program says that I have an unsupported operating system, strange that it was working fine before this morning. There appear to be no instructions of how to manually get to the software, but I may well have the same problem.
I am running Win 10 Pro, and the AMD system is AM-5300 APU with Radeon HD graphics.
How do I go about restoring my screen to normal?
As you learned the hard way about using 3rd party driver updating apps. They are not reliable to use. Many times they install drivers that are not compatible with your hardware.
Best to use the Manufacturer of the hardware own Updating App like Intel updating app as an example.
Please post your PC information and if it is a laptop the exact Make & Model of your laptop.
do you have a A4-5300 or a Ryzen 3 5300U APU processor?
If you have a laptop Ryzen 3 5300U processor here is the latest Mobile AMD driver: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-3-mobile-processors-radeon-graphic...
If you have a A4-5300 with HD7480D Integrated Graphics here is the last supported mobile AMD Driver: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-series-processors/amd-a4-series-apu-for-desktops/a4-5300-rade...
Since you mentioned you had Radeon HD Graphics I am assuming you have a legacy A4-5300 Mobile APU processor.
In which case the only driver you need to install is the one I posted above for the A4. There are no other AMD driver updates for your AMD APU processor.
Best to use your laptop's manufacturer's OEM AMD Mobile Graphics driver which is 100% compatilbe.
to get your laptop back to the way it was I would use Windows Restore point and restore your laptop from the time before you updated the AMD driver.
I also asked my son who works in IT, and he provided a link to thee amd site. This should be the GPU drivers: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-series-processors/amd-a4-series-apu-for-desktops/a4-5300-rade....
I've downloaded this and when I run it it comes up with the message
You don't have permission to access "http://www.amd.com/en/support" on this server.

As I'm accessing the support web site from my PC, which is where I'm having the problem, what does it mean?
Can I remove
Forget the reply below. It would appear to have worked?
Thanks for the reply, but you assume that I have a laptop, I don't. It's a self built PC, some 10 years old now, which has given good service over the years. I can't remember which processor I've got, but as indicated below, I've solved the problem.
I agree that you need the right drivers for the unit, which my son managed to find, so I loaded it and cured my problem. Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.
Sorry I got confused between the A4 Desktop and A4 Mobile when I was making my previous reply.
The link I posted in my previous reply was for the A4 Desktop and not the A4 Mobile.
Anyway glad you got your PC working again normally.
