Freesnyc isnt working

I just got my 7900xt. But i got horrible screen tearing in every game. I tried to enable freesync premium pro or enhanced sync and both dont do anything. My Monitor aw3423dwf has 165hz so i set my fps cap to 164. Im sure it isnt a hardware problem because v sync does work. But if i have to use v sync i might aswell just return my new 7900xt. I just cant play any game like this. Some have a suggestion how to fix it ?

If you're experiencing screen tearing issues with your new RX 7900 XT graphics card despite enabling FreeSync and Enhanced Sync, here are some steps you can take to address the problem:

  1. Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version.
  2. Verify that FreeSync is enabled on your monitor.
  3. Adjust in-game graphics settings, such as V-Sync options or frame rate limiters.
  4. Test different display cables to ensure they are not causing the issue.

Freesync premium doesn't work for me on my 6700xt.  I have tried your suggested steps, monitor is certified freesync premium and I have an adequate display port cable.  But ever since 23.5.1 I get brightness flickering, and turning freesync off and settling for "varaible refresh rate" in windows is the best solution I've come up with.  Would love to benefit from the "freesync premium" feature I paid a premuim just to get   (I play mostly Halo infinite).

You said it all in your last words.

From every game I tried from Halo series, from the very first to many others. Freesync doesnt work.

All in all I have about 3 or 4 games that dont work well with freesync, other than that its just wonderful to have it on.

But in any case, with such a powerful gpu and a capable monitor running above 120hz, even vsync on is great and smooth. Sometimes freesync is not even necessary.

It's worse than that for me.  I paid a $60 premium for freesync premium monitor, and I have to have freesync turned off for ALL the games I have tested.  I have contacted tech support, but haven't been helping adequately. Last time I had an AMD video card was in the doom 3 days when driver support was SHOCKINGLY sub-par.  I thought that an AMD card would be a good buy nowadays though, as they do the new console hardware, but alas, driver support still sucks.  I am going to upgrade my video card in the next 6-12 months, but when I do, I will be going back to an NVIDIA graphics card instead.  I took a CHANCE buying AMD, and feel like I am getting pissed on and ignored, so I WONT be buying AMD ever again .  I feel "robbed" paying premiums for features that dont work, and AMD's tech support seems all blaze like they don't care, like, "HAH we've got your money anyway now, sucker, why should we bother making sure our products work as advertised?"   VERY UNACCEPTABLE!

OK freesync works in most games now with the newest 23.30.01.02 patch!

I made that post when I was drinking and pissed off.  Even though freesync works now (as it has done in the past), I just have a feeling it will get broken again with a new patch (as it has done in the past).  But still, I am having a great experience with starfield on my amd card.  I'll probably buy a new amd graphics card in the next 6 months, I just wish they had better driver support, although, having the new tech like AMD fluid frames coming to RDNA2 was a pleasant surprise!  I am not pissed off at amd anymore, for now. LOL
