Summary:
For NAVI and higher cards Links 2003 using latest drivers (23.8.1) crashes out during redraw on certain courses. This is happening on my 5600XT
Setup:
Install Links 2003 from this site ($6):
https://www.linkscountryclub.com/proshop/links-2003-download-version
Install Patches (1.07 and AMD/NVIDIA Patch):
https://www.linkscountryclub.com/download
Download the following course (Sequoya National) and put it in the \Courses directory in Links2k3:
http://linkscoursefiles.co.uk/download.php?course_no=2764
Create profile in Radeon software on .exe called LinksMMIII.exe from the .exe in the Links directory
Anti-Aliasing: Override application settings / 8xEQ / Supersampling
Morphological: Disabled
Anisotropic Filtering: 16X
Texture Filtering: High
Surface Format Optimization: Enabled
Tesselation Mode: AMD Optimized
Verify the following settings via regedit:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Links 2003\DisplaySettings
Mode 15 (1920x1200) or Mode 14 (1920x1080)
Windowed 0
Repro Steps:
1. Launch Links2k3 via LinksMIII.exe
2. Choose Play Golf / Practice
3. Select the Sequoyah National Course from Above and choose hole 5
4. Use alt-v to change view to 'close up' where golfer is largest in foreground.
5. Drive towards the green, hit second shot onto green
Observe:
Game will crash out when attempting to redraw after the second shot.
Expected:
No crash.
Actual:
Game crashes out and displays the 'game interrupted do you want to resume' prompt on next run, answering 'yes' causes it to crash again in a loop.
Note:
This is a regression from 23.7.2 where it last worked though that driver has the white spike from golfer's foot bug:
https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/bug-graphic-corruption-w-aa-and-af-setting-not-recogni...
I have confirmed this happens on other courses too, it's not a one-off issue with the course itself. 23.8.1 solved the white spike out of the golfer's foot after 3 years, but introduced this crasher unfortunately.
Solved! Go to Solution.
This appears to have been corrected as of 24.1.1. Closing.
FWIW I also submitted this bug via the AMD Bug Reporting tool.
Crashes continues with 23.9.2 driver.
More courses it crashes on: Cherry Hills Country Club Hole 2 approaching the pin.
Classic Club, hole 11.
Courses may be downloaded here:

Crashes continue with 23.10.1.
Here is a course that crashes immediately after loading, you don't need to do anything.
Coogan's Bluff

Here are the AMD settings for the Links2k3 .exe.
These issues continue to happen with 23.12.1 unfortunately.
