Hello. In the game Zenless Zone Zero, black blinking artifacts appear in static scenes. There are no artifacts in the game itself when there is 3D graphics; they only appear in static 2D story scenes stylized as manga. I did some googling, and it seems this is an old issue that has surfaced on Nintendo Switch emulators like Yuzu on RDNA 3 GPUs. These artifacts are identical to the ones I'm experiencing. However, I don't use an emulator; I'm playing the new popular game Zenless Zone Zero. Is there any hope that AMD will fix this issue? Because in most threads on Reddit, people simply returned the video card to the store.
Here's a screenshot of these artifacts https://imgur.com/bsK0zkd
And here's the video https://streamable.com/s26okb
I want to add that the issue only occurs at 4K resolution and above. And it's not just me; I asked owners of RX 7800 XT on another forum to check, and they have the same issue too.
Is it specific to this scene https://imgur.com/bsK0zkd? or it can be seen in all static scenes?
what is the ingame graphic preset? high or medium?
Maximum graphics settings, screen resolution 2160p. Glitches are not only in this scene, they also occur on gray loading screens. It’s just that in the scene I presented, these glitches are guaranteed to be there and it’s easy to find. I thought it was a problem with my video card, which would be strange since I recently bought it. I asked another person with the same video card to check this scene and he also has these glitches. There are none at 1080p and 1440p, only at 4K and 8K. My video card is Sapphire Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB NITRO+. If you have the opportunity, check out this scene from Zenless Zone Zero for yourself. I tried all driver versions released this year and tried the driver installed by Windows itself. Also, these glitches exist on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
I am using 2160p and maximum graphic settings with a 7800XT, but I am not seeing these artifacts on the gray loading screens. Could you attach a screeshot where you see these artifacts on the gray loading screen?
Issues also arose in conversation scenes that used 3D models. It's exactly the same as the screenshot. The glitch occurs with the character shown on the right, especially around the face.
Radeon RX 7900 GRE (24.10.1)
High Graphics settings and 1440p resolution.
Yes, it’s very frustrating. I live in a poor country, and I had to save for several months to buy this graphics card, and now I feel like a fool for purchasing it. This is my second AMD graphics card. The first one was the Radeon HD 3870, and it also had issues; it had bad GDDR4 memory from Samsung, which only showed up in some games. Now I’m wondering if the problems weren’t with the memory, but also with the drivers, just like in the case of the game Zenless Zone Zero.
Made a reddit post about this a while back about the same issue. Running a 7900 GRE playing ZZZ at 1440p Max settings. I uploaded a video here showing what it looked like for me, exactly what @pikepikeid was saying. The black artifacting was also appearing for me on gray loading screens that @kirakishou was mentioning in an earlier comment. I've ran multiple GPU tests on the card and I was seeing no power loss or major internal issues. Until recently, one of my friends got me playing another game called Eternal Return where I found the random artifacting to appear again on the agent loading screen (albeit at a lesser rate also at 1440p). It is now the 2nd time where I encounter this issue in another game. This is my first AMD card after switching from a 1660 Ti which I had no problems with. Unfortunately, the fact that I'm unable to know if this a bad GPU or just bad drivers is just frustrating and has soured the experience seeing as how this is my first introduction to using AMD's GPU line up. I couldn't find any other sources talking about this issue in particular to ZZZ (this was the only board I could find mentioning the issue in the same game) making me feel like this is just a minority issue that will never be addressed. If it helps, I found that if I lower my resolution to 1080p I would be unable to replicate the black artifacting but, this defeated the whole purpose of me purchasing the card in the first place. Hopefully, someone can shed light on the situation.
The first time I noticed these artifacts was in BrownDust2, but I didn’t pay much attention to them since they appeared only in one place. However, in Zenless Zone Zero, these artifacts show up on loading screens and 2D story scenes stylized as manga. I asked another person to check the moment with Nicole, since it's easy to find, and he confirmed that he also sees the artifacts on his RX 7800 XT. Two problematic RX 7800 XTs? I think it might be either the drivers or a manufacturing defect affecting all RX 7900 GRE and RX 7800 XT cards. I don’t seem to have artifacts on the 3D scenes where the characters are talking. Do you see them on all scenes, or only some? How can I find this scene from your video? I’d like to check it on my RX 7800 XT.
The symptoms that @pikepikpeid was saying is the most common thing I've been able to replicate to produce the artifacting, albeit not with all 3D conversations (due to me not paying attention or because there are no errors within those specific scenes). For context, the scene in my video is the last scene "A Mouse's Home" for the Undercover R&B special episode (Jane Doe's episode) that you can access through the video shelf if you have already completed it before. I just wanted to add that I've also seen the black pixels show up when pulling up the phone and looking at mission conversations or DM's from other characters in the over world. They usually appear at the bottom of the UI and they flicker the same way but they can be hard to see at times due to the color of the UI. I also agree that it is easy to see this as a driver issue, or even a manufacturing defect but I doubt there will be any support from AMD or the GPU brands for those with defective cards if that were the case
I check this issue with character select. (2560x1440 resolution)

This issue also appears in 3D conversation scenes and manga scenes. I reached out to HoYoverse's customer service center, and they promptly responded that they would investigate the matter, although it remains uncertain if they will be able to resolve it.
