AMD Graphics Drivers Update (24.10.1) Freezing Issue

Hey,

ever since I updated from 24.4 i have had this freezing Issue with every newer driver.

Whenever I am in Fullscreen Mode on either one of the two monitors, then try to tab out or do something as simple as use the

volume controls on my keyboard, the whole PC freezes for at least 30s and sometimes even crashes. It doesn't even have to be a game

it even crashed on YT videos or Netflix. I have tried everything from updating all other drivers up to flashing the bios and nothing works.

I am looking for a solution without having to downgrade to the older drivers as this has been a problem for longer now.

Specs:

- 13th Gen Intel i5-13600K

- AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT

- MSI PRO Z790-S WIFI

- 32GB DDR5 RAM

Thank you!

I think I was experiencing a similar issue on the 24.5.1 driver. I installed the drivers two weeks ago and started to experience the issue yesterday. I was watching a Youtube video, and the video froze but the sound continued. My Firefox became unresponsive, and so did Windows. I could not open task manager, close any tabs on the browser, open the start menu, or do much of anything, Windows wasn't having it! I had to reboot my PC manually. After rebooting, I noticed that my Adrenalin software had an exclamation mark. When I clicked on it, I saw a message that said something along the lines of "Had to reset to default settings".

Last night I updated to drivers ver. 24.9.1, and got a similar crash today. Have been watching Youtube most of the day and had no issue until I did. This time the video froze and so did the sound, but Windows did not crash and was still fully functional.

LOL you can broke PC in many ways. Not Driver issue.

Sure you can, but this PC was fine until I installed the drivers. Nothing else was changed.

The fact that the Adrenalin had the message of resetting all settings to default after the crash, also suggests that it is a driver issue.

same problem but only with battlefield 5,  i7-9700K, 7900 gre

I have problems with both drivers 24.09 and 24.10 in games. Dark areas are suddenly brightly lit when turning quickly and in a cave it looks as if someone has switched on the light. With driver 24.05 there are no such problems, even with 23.12.1 everything works perfectly. What has been changed so massively since 24.09?

Here is the result with 24.09 and 24.10 This area should actually only be dark.

I was actually just about to create a new post. I am having this exact same problem in Fortnite when using Lumen global lighting. It does this on both 24.09.1 and 24.10.1. I've had to revert back to 24.8.1 and put up with AMD software randomly opening itself up for no reason. I suspect it's something they introduced when they added frame generation in the drivers.

I haven't tried too many other games but it's good to know it's not just Fortnite.

I'm on a 7900 XTX and R7 5800X3D.

I have described it in more detail in a separate discussion so that the problem can be seen more clearly. Here you can also see the difference between 24.5 and 24.10. I have added the link:

Best regards and let's hope that the problem is dealt with quickly.

Hey, did you fix the problem? i just updated my driver to 24.10.1 and i am having problems with fortnite when loading in its freezing. Before i upgraded i dropped frames and lagged in fortnite in game. Did you fix ur problem? if so, how?

Hi  jadhili,

I have just updated the driver to 24.10 to check if anything has changed. Unfortunately no improvement yet. I don't have the problem with 24.5 and I'm still using that.

Best regards and hope for a quick update!
