So I'm running into a issue that I'm besides myself on but here is the run down I recently purchased a Acer windows mixed reality headset but i'm having a issue where I will not go past the initial check due to my driver being wddm 2.1?

I've ran dxdiag an got this

I've tried about every post fall creator driver update and have no dice i'm currently on 18.2.2

Cpu is a ryzen 7 1700

16gb of ram

All other boxes check out on the wmr check just the wddm 2.1 issue that I seamingly can't get past

According to this Guru Forum, the Drivers from 9/2017 supports WDDM 2.3 - So I imagine that the Adrenaline also supports WDDM 2.3. WDDM 2.3 driver - 23.20.768.12 - 9/27/2017 12:00:00 AM | guru3D Forums

Just reran the amd driver uninstall utility again an then installed radeon-software-adrenalin-18.2.2-minimalsetup-180212_web and I'm still stuck on wddm 2.1 based drivers did amd forget to build a wddm 2.2 or 2.3 driver for the nano? I don't feel like blowing 1k on a vega equivalent

When you install the AMD driver use the Full Set not the minimal set. Make sure your Windows is fully updated via Windows Update. Delete the C:\AMD folder from the Root Directory. Download the appropriate full set of AMD driver set and disconnect the computer from the internet. This prevents Windows from installing a different driver than the one your are trying to install.

Use Windows Uninstaller to remove all AMD software and driver. Then download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode to remove all traces of the current AMD driver in your computer. Reboot

Reinstall the downloaded Full set of AMD driver set. Check and see if you have WDDM 2.2 or greater.

I was trying to see if the R9 Nano supports WDDM 2.2 or higher but couldn't find the information at AMD.com. IMO, it should since it is such a High-end GPU card.

Force updated the driver through device manager with version 23.20.15017.4003 wddm still at 2.1 so I did a little cross searching on the version a rx480 with the same driver version is at wddm 2.3...

So it looks like I somehow need to get a hold of a amd driver engineer to figure out what is going on

Both of the AMD Moderators are Software Engineers. They probably are your best bet to find a solution.

This may sound dumb, but what version of Windows are you using? Supposingly, Windows Creator version supports WDDM 2.2 on it while earlier versions of Windows support WDDM 2.1.

Just learned something from researching your problem. The first two digits of the Graphic Drivers indicates the supported WDDM.

Driver Version: 22.19.677.257 so the original driver you had according to DxDiag does support WDDM 2.2. I don't have a AMD GPU installed but this is what mine DxDiag showed from a Nvidia Driver from 5/2017:

I have Windows Mixed Reality working in my computer with Version 1709 (16299.248) after installing the last Windows Update in February 13, 2018.

When you installed the latest driver did you have your VR Headset connected to the GPU Card or have a second monitor connected?

Try disconnecting everything except you monitor from your Nano card and see if WDDM show 2.2 or 2.3. including removing the Active adapter. I am thinking that something connected to your Nano may not support 2.2 which then Windows goes back to 2.1 . Just  stabbing the air here.

Found this old Microsoft Forum thread that has the exact type of problem as you do. Dxdiag is still showing Directx 11.2 and WDDM 1.3... Where is DirectX - Microsoft Community .

Windows may be showing DirectX version depending upon the graphic card installed or the processor of your system.

Follow the steps to check which version of directX is installed in your computer.

a)  Press Windows + R.

b)  Type dxdiag and click ok.

You mentioned you have an older computer system. Try, if you can, the R9 Nano in that system and see if you get Wddm 2.2 . Either the Nano doesn't support WDDM 2.2 or your Processor doesn't support WDDM 2.2 according to the reply from Microsoft.

Otherwise, I am baffled why Windows keeps reverting to WDDM 2.1 with drivers that support WDDM 2.2 and above.

well my older system is a Phenom II x6 1045t thats now broken down to its basic parts in a box.. But I upgraded to ryzen because I was running into issues with cpu extensions that the old phenom II didn't have.

And I update my drivers an uninstall them with the headset completely disconnected or connected to see if that made a change with no luck.

My monitor itself shouldn't be forcing this should it? Its a older HP w2408 that i'm using a HDMI to DVI adapter since well... the nano kinda lacks dvi I don't have any other display to test with..

The driver you now have installed, according to DxDiag, supports WDDM 2.3. No, your monitor would not affect Windows WDDM rating. If only you can get a hold of someone else's GPU card, that supports WDDM 2.2 or higher,  and install it in your computer and see if the WDDM goes to 2.2 or 2.3. If it does, then it means the problem is with the Nano.

I see that you never posted the Make & Model of your Motherboard. See if you have the latest BIOS and AMD Chipset for your board. Sometimes updating those two makes newer Windows versions and Drivers work correctly. Lately, I have been asking that from most people here at AMD Forum as a first step before troubleshooting anything.

Using another gpu might be.. difficult as closest thing i have around is a 1950pro... which I"m pretty sure might not support wddm 2.2 or 2.3

Using a asus b350 prime matx motherboard with the latest bios version 3803

Not sure on chipset version but I'll run the latest update from asus on that an see what happens.

Now this isn't my first nano but my other had extreme coil wine and would black out but this one has almost no coil wine and been rock solid stable.

The info supplied in your first post is 'garbage'

INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN POSTING A QUESTION​ , could help someone(with more knowledge on ryzen) offer suggestions.

The basic one is, you should do a clean/fresh OS install for ryzen(not carry over old hdd files).
