Unable to change window sizes in Settings for Win11

Hardware

CPU: AMD 7950X CPU

GPU: AMD 7900XTX (driver version 24.7.1)

Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X670E Plus with UEFI 2613 (4/12/2024)

OS: Windows 11 (10.0.22631)

Scenario

If I use a KVM switch to go between computers (4 computers share 1 monitor 1 keyboard 1 mouse).

When I switch away from my AMD 7950X to another computer, work on that PC, then switch back to AMD 7950X the Windows 11 Settings windows will NOT resize and is stuck in a tiny window that can't be resized.

Unable to resizeUnable to resizeAttempt to resize with Alt + spacebarAttempt to resize with Alt + spacebar

Second screen is what happens when I try to use the Alt + Spacebar and select "size" and then drag windows border.

IMPORTANT: If I reboot my AMD PC then this problem goes away until the next time I use my KVM switch to go between computers.

NOTE: this ONLY on this PC using AMD 7900XTX GPU, none of my other computers using nVidia GPUs have this problem when switch between them.

I've had this issue for MANY months ever since I installed the AMD GPU 7900XTX.  I believe this is a bug in AMD GPU drivers that can't seem to handle KVM switching between computers using the same monitor.  I really enjoy using AMD GPUs, but if this issue can't be resolved, I will sadly have to stay with nVidia GPU (not my preference).

Hoping AMD can come up with a resolution.

Maybe the @amd team is looking into it. Definitely seems GPU-related if you're not having that issue with

Nvidia GPUs and a weird issue. Are the other PC's also using AMD processors? I assume it's not throwing any error codes?

The issue ONLY happens with AMD GPU (I only have 1 7900XTX).  Waiting for AMD’s next Gen GPU in 2025.

My computers:

AMD 9950X + nVidia 4090. (Win11 23H2)

AMD 7950X + AMD 7900XTX (Win11 23H2)

AMD 5960X + nVidia 3090 (Win11 23H2)

Intel 12900K + nVidia 4070Ti Super (Win11 23H2)

Intel 12900K + nVidia Titan X (Unraid 6.12.11 - Linux kernel 6.1.106)

Intel 7900X + nVidia 3060Ti (Ubuntu 24.04.1 - Linux kernel 6.8)

The only computer that has this problem with KVM switches is the AMD 7950X + 7900XTX

No errors, nothing in OS event log for Windows 11 23H2.

What KVM and monitor are you using, how is each computer display out connected to the KVM (cable type) and how is the KVM display out connected to the monitor?

Ryzen R7 5700X | B550 Gaming X | 2x16GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 7900XT
Ryzen R7 5700G | B550 Gaming X | 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 | Radeon Vega 8 IGP
Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

All are HDMI 2.1 spec, cables, GPUs, KVM, Monitor (LG C2).

Are all 4 computers using the same display resolution? How are you switching between computers? Is it a simple hot-key to go in order 1-2-3-4 or do you have the option to directly select which computer? ie. does the 7900XTX computer always follow computer X?

When on the 7900XTX computer instead of rebooting if you cycle the monitor input is the problem fixed? What about if you unplug the HDMI cable and reconnect? On the monitor side or on the computer side.

Ryzen R7 5700X | B550 Gaming X | 2x16GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 7900XT
Ryzen R7 5700G | B550 Gaming X | 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 | Radeon Vega 8 IGP
Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

Yes, all operate at 3840 x 2160 60 Hz, Scaling 100%.

I can go in order or I can select out of order.  Results are the same.  No consistency in which computer was before the switch to the 7900XTX computer.

Cycle of monitor inputs does not fix it.

Unplug the HDMI cable does not fix it on either side does not fix it.

As mentioned, the only thing to fix the issues is if I reboot the PC with the 7900XTX.

Thanks for the additional info, seems the 7900XTX doesn't like something with the HDMI switching. I wonder does the KVM simply cut the connection or does it send a signal so the computer thinks it is still connected? Do you hear disconnect/reconnect sound? Sorry I don't have any other suggestions.

I also use a KVM but it is an older model with VGA so I am only using it for the KM and each PC has its own input to the monitor and switching works no problem. Of course it does require a 2-step process to switch.

Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

Here is the KVM switch I'm using.
