New thread - Microsoft Teams Screen Share Crash - RX 7800XT

This is to reopen an issue with screen sharing of Teams marked as solved here Microsoft Teams Screen Share Crash - RX 7800XT.

This issue is not solved even with the newest version of drivers 24.5.1 @ProfessorB , @raph244 ,  @alexc47

Setup:

2 monitors, both 60 Hz, directly connected to GPU ( one DP , one HDMI)

1 camera logi HD1080p, 60 Hz, usb connected to MB

Win 11, MS Teams - all latest versions of course.

starting from Feb 2024 GPU crashes while sharing screen on Teams.

Issue appears not every time but in 90% of cases, depends on the duration of sharing.

First it crashes screen sharing w/o crashing Teams app itself, if you try to share screen again -> crashes Teams.

In 50% of cases it crashes windows with restart.

All drivers are updated,

Tried to share with/without camera -> same.

Tried to install older versions of drivers (23) -> even worse.

I've sent a number of bug reports via Adrenaline software.

This is my first and i think last purchase of AMD radeon instead of Nvidia as it is totally unacceptable that for such a long period of time this curtail functionality is giving a bug.

it is damaging my reputation towards my clients (i'm in consulting business), i still need to use my laptop every time i have an important call.

This is not done for such a high end product.

Have you tried disabling the settings that are known to be problematic?

  • Windows Registry:
    • MultiPaneOverlay
  • Windows Settings:
    • Hardware-Accelerated GPU scheduling
    • Optimizations for windowed games

Try disabling those settings and see if it helps
