my intel 660p ssd on the x470
ran atto benchmark for my intel 660p ssd, far as i can tell it is working fairly well
msi x470 gaming plus with 32gb of memory and r5 3600 processor
I have seen worse performance on some forums.

Ok, so you run a test using small files which fit in the SLC cache. We are supposed to be impressed? Copy a large file or files which exceed the SLC buffer, performance will crash to 100MB/s or less.

This tool uses a wide range of sizes which is possibly why the performance is lacklustre or it could be this X470 Gaming Plus and my R5 3600 are not as efficient as it gets yet

It uses file sizes which all fit into the SLC configured cache. In the case of your 512GB drive, that cache ranges from 76-6GB depending on how much of the drive is used. Remember, I own this drive, the 2TB version, and I know exactly how slow the drive gets after the SLC cache is filled after the initial loading of over 700GB of files, 100MB/s or less, and it's why Intel redesigned the drive so it does not slowdown until after 50%.

The Intel SSD toolkit has a cache flushing feature which I use to restore performance
