I built my computer with a XFX 6800xt just over 3 years ago (warranty just expired sigh) and it's worked perfectly. Until recently. The past couple months I've occasionally had a BSOD crash.. and then yesterday i woke up, fired the PC up and i received the infamous "Code 43" error. I already have windows updates turned off and didn't change anything recently.
I went through all the driver uninstall/reinstall processes and it actually recognized the card and the drivers were working. But after awhile the computer froze and i had to hard reset. Now even trying to install the drivers the screen goes blank and the computer resets and boots back to "Code 43".
I installed an old video card i had laying around, a old relic HD 7970 and the computer accepted it and the AMD drivers are all functioning properly...
Is this likely a hardware failure? Honestly the windows driver works fine but it won't detect my second monitor, otherwise I'd continue to use it. I don't even play games any more.
