so recently bought a new cpu the 3600x

whenever its at idle its around 50 degrees.

and while gaming it goes up to 85 with stock cooler.

is this normal?

With stock cooler, yes. I have arctic evo34 duo yet my 3600 reaches 75 on prime95 test.
You have slightly overclocked chip with higher TDP and pretty weak cooler compared to mine.
