7800x3d (not much more I can say)

Received Friday. Stuck it in Sunday morning. Had it up and running in an hour. (Mobo update to 1004/driver update to 23.4.1 was needed)

This thing is a machine. While sipping power. I haven’t even gotten my memory speeds up yet (still at 4800) or touched a thing, and have already seen great uplift. Especially in the 1% first lows. Which I wanted. I swapped a 7950x out for it. (All I do is game and horse around, zero productivity.  I’m sorry if this isn’t a “issue, or bitch thread” but so far, (and I’m no pc pro, but I know my rig) and it’s early, but this lil guy is a **bleep** gem. Cheers.

Just getting started. It’s as vanilla as can be.

Looking great.  I'm surprised you noticed a difference from the bigger beast, the 7950X CPU.

As Albert Einstein said, "I could have done so much more with a Big Al's Computer!".

Probably the min fps and percentils.

That is a monster build you have there. I'll be on AM5 eventually and it is good to hear the 7800X3D is such a great investment.

Enjoying the long boot times ? Or did you disable AMD EXPO

Are long boot times typical for Ryzen 7000? My buddy built a 7700X build and he says he has zero issues with boot times.

I don’t have long boot times, even with fast boot off. Weird. And no, I run expoI. Ddr5 cl30-6000. How long is long to you ?

Odd. I don’t have “long” boot times, and have fast boot off.  What is a long boot time to you guys?

A lot of users are experiencing boot times of 40 seconds (or much longer) to get to windows after pressing the power button.

To clarify: after a clean system shutdown, without loss of power, when pressing the power button, some users are looking at a black screen for 30 seconds, before the BIOS logo appears.

After that, another 15-30 seconds to get to windows. The only work-around is to leave the DDR5 running at the standard speed (not enabling XMP or EXPO) wich is silly.

Could you post your boot time ? I mean a cold boot, starting with the pc powered down.

When you reach the desktop, go to task manager > start up > in the upper right corner you'll see the last BIOS time.

lol.. oh.. 40 seconds.... sheesh.  Ya, that minute, just doesn't bother me lol. But, hey,... everyones different.

I mean, man,.. seems all of your guys seconds, mean a **bleep** ton more than mine. Most of my boot time, is config my rgb and fans and **bleep**....... But, i guess (again, fast boot is OFF) sure, i guess 40 seconds, is a world beating dumpster fire lol.....

Again, everyone is different, and im not trying to bash or clown on anyone. But **bleep**... for me.... and my rig,.. its seems MORE than fine.  I think my 7950x may, or may not have been a bit faster. But, it really seems the same. So, i guess i have HUGE boot times.  Meh......

Yeah, I kinda figured it would be something like that

You have a different opinion on the matter and that's fine, but when my 'older' AMD 5900X system takes 14 seconds to boot, and my 7900X takes 40 seconds, i'm not okay with that. I spent more than $1200 on a 7900X/mobo/RAM only to experience slower boot.

Does it work ? Sure. Is it a dealbreaker ? To a lot of people, it is. A matter of principle if you will

To each his own mate, if you're happy with it that's the only thing that matters

This thing is a monster. (Check all lows,  zero need to mention the high) see the high average on the cpu also. Nothing like bottle necking a 7900xtx in this title.  If you are on the fence on this chip, game only, especially this title,… no idea what your waiting for. Good god. All the while running under 64c, and eating low low double digit watts. (1440p/medium low settings, with some high and ultra mixed in, it looks amazing). Even on the big map/BR it’s pretty **bleep** rock solid

ddr5 cl30 - 6000, using expoII setting here  They even have a EXPO tweaked setting in the bios, as well as a “load optimal x3d”  . (ASUS x670e-e mobo) . I haven’t even tried those yet as I don’t want to scuff reliability. but hell, I may try them.  Cheers all
