Hello,
Please let me know if this is the appropriate place to ask this question. I submitted a Warranty Claim last month for my 7800x3d. It was accepted on 10/15/2024. I was told right away that there was none available and i would have to wait for the stock to replenish. Sure i can wait. Waited a week or so and i responded back asking if there was an estimate to when they would be available. Same message about waiting for stock to replenish. They did offer a 7950x3d. I thought about it and decided i didnt really want to deal with reinstalling windows to take advantage of the two ccds. I decline the offer and let support know i'm going to continue to wait. I e-mail yesterday asking about any updates on the status of CPU stock. I was again told that they will let me know when stock is replenished. I consider that AMD received the processor on the morning of 10/15 as a day. So it has been 24 days. What is a reasonable timeline to wait? Am i being unrealistic in my expectations? Is there anyone in this forum that can shed some light on the process if there is any insight to when the cpu stock might be replenished.
Should have taken the 7950X3d,you don't need to reinstall windows on a CPU change.
As for waiting, could be months.
I read various posts and various videos on youtube that suggest to take advantage of the dual ccd's that a reinstall would be warranted. Saying something gets installed in Windows to take advantage. I may wait a little bit longer. You think they would go for letting me pay the difference and upgrading to the 9800x3d? I would be happy to give them a little extra as the 9800x3d is looking very good.
To take advantage of the 7950X3D you'll need to search and dig a bit into topics like these:
One of the Tweaks i saw. I dont mind making tweaks to my existing setup. I was hoping to set it and not have to tinker. Not that i couldnt do it, but you know...time investment.
Yeah, i feel you.

Absolutely, Ill wait a bit longer. im sure the offer to upgrade to a 7950x3d wont suddenly disappear. But im gonna hold out and see where it takes me. Maybe ill get lucky, but not likely.
Earnhardt, I disagree on not needing to install a fresh copy of Windows on a processor change. John.
I'll have to agree and go with @Earnhardt
In fact, I haven't reinstalled Windows and I changed my board 2 times, not mentioning CPU and GPU changes several other times.
Worse.. It was an upgrade from Windows 7 and everything runs peachy here.
