Im switching motherboards and ram as well to a B550 and 32gb of ram,

i want to keep the same SSD im using, just wondering if i plug it in and update the drivers for my CPU if it will work as i dont want to have to get another SSD

first thing you need to do is post your new Make & Model of your Motherboard, RAM Part Number, and Motherboard current BIOS version installed to determine what you will need to upgrade to the new Ryzen 5800X.

By posting your Motherboard and BIOS version I can check to see if your new processor will work out of the box or you will need to update your Motherboard BIOS to a newer version that will support your new processor.

The RAM Part Number I can check to see if it is listed on your Motherboard's QVL LIST FOR RAM for the 5000 series processor or on the RAM's manufacturer website.

The Ryzen 5800X has no Integrated Graphics so there are no Drivers to install.

You won't need to replace your SSD as long as it is compatible with your new Motherboard. You might need to do a clean Windows Installation if you have issues of Windows recognizing your new processor or Motherboard correctly.

I am upgrading from the 2700x to the 5800x, I know I need to do something with the bios, but unsure of the process. I am not changing MB. What bios do I need? Hiw do I do this? ASROCK A320M-HDV R4.0

The Ryzen 2700X is compatible with all BIOS versions from the Original BIOS of your Motherboard.

NOTE: There are two other Revisions of your Motherboard - 4.02 and 4.03 but they seems to have the same BIOS versions as the 4.0 revision.

Before Updating your Motherboard's BIOS version, if applicable, PLEASE READ THE YELLOW WARNING NOTES under each BIOS update: https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/A320M-HDV%20R4.0/index.asp#BIOS

According to ASRock BIOS if you update past BIOS Version 2.30 and update to BIOS version 7.10 your 2700X might not work correctly or boot up and you won't be able to downgrade your BIOS version from 7.10 to 2.30.

Now go to the QVL List for your processor to see if your RAM is listed as being compatible to the 5800X.

ASRock doesn't have a specific QVL List for the 5000 Series RAM Memory just for Pinnacle and General Memory: https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/A320M-HDV%20R4.0/index.asp#Memory

The Ryzen 2700X is under "Pinnacle Ridge" RAM Memory so I imagine the 5800X would be under MEMORY QVL.
