Dear all,
I upgraded my PC to a new MSI B550 board and a Ryzen 5700G processor. Since then, I observed several problems when installing and using software.
- Discord cannot be installed, various error messages from the installer, installer animation fiickers
- AMD Chipset driver installer does not work properly (hangs at some point)
- Window content corrupted in various desktop windows, e.g. MessageBox() windows, garbage in the title line, aspect ratio distorted, fonts corrupted, fonts incorrectly scaled
- mscorlib: recursive resource lookup, never saw that before with the old board and CPU
What I tried to resolve the problem:
- Flashed latest MSI b BIOS
- Swapped memory for a different set of modules
- Used a clean SDD and re-installed windows from scratch
- Removed the RTX2070
- Swapped mainboard from MSI to Gigabyte
Strangely, AIDA64 reports no issues. Minecraft also runs well, once after many attempts I managed to get it installed. Discord still not working
Any ideas what may be behind these issues and how to fix them? The corrupted desktop window contents might indicate that some basic memory copy operation in the chipset or the CPU is not working correctly.
