Ryzen 5 3500U

I know that Ryzen 5 3500U supports 2400mhz memory but my laptop's default memory frequency is 2666mhz. When I visit task manager, it says its only using 2400mhz. I'm planning on adding another memory since there are two slots. My question is should I get a 2666mhz ram or 2400mhz? I don't want to fry my laptop because of different frequencies, or because of high frequencies. Which one would be safer? Any help is appreciated!

It's best to get the same speed your laptop shipped with. You're not going to "fry" your processor by using faster RAM, and the stated "supported" RAM speed by AMD is just the minimum supported.

if you want the best performance get 2 sticks of DDR4-2666 and then you can get efficient dual channel operation and better performance
