ryzen 2600 doesn't throttle, heats up untill thermal shut-off

--(Useless paragraph) I always had the bad habit of not giving a **bleep** about fixing problems when it's my own machines but honnestly, after 4 or 5 years, this one is starting to bug me. Although i kinda like how much this has made me have to treat very cpu intensive tasks like doing cpr on my main pc and how nobody has this problem, im breaking that now (maybe).

--i have

-Ryzen 5 2600

-Asus prime b450m-a bios 1201

-Ubuntu (had the same problems on windows but it felt a bit less forgiving)

--My cpu doesn't throttle, my cooling works perfectly fine (stock cooler) but if i do something like cinebench, compiling, blender render, pretty much anything that overwhelms the cooler, my cpu just keeps going untill like 110° or something then my pc shuts off.

-I got no overclocks or anything wierd done exept having all my fans set at max speed

-I never saw my clock speed budge a nanometer from 3850. Or at least that was the case when i had windows on it, as i was finished writing this i am seeing that my clocks are actually acting like normal on Ubuntu (still no throttle though)

-when i switched to 100% linux, i noticed that loads actually move around the cores instead of just torturing the same poor cores untill its done.

--Just to already knock out some of the obvious questions

-yes i checked in HWI, my cpu doesn't throttle

-updating my bios probably won't fix it. i do remember seeing a thread about a simmilar problem a while ago but different chipset i think and updating his bios didn't fix it. Also my usb ports are becoming less and less trustworthy so id rather do that as a last ditch effort or wait untill i change my usb ports

-i've had this problem since i had it

--i am curious of hearing your thoughts on this

Why do you think a bios update may not fix the issue, and asus chipset drivers are well behind the AMD version fixes/updates.

There were bios updates to mitigate some mobo makers/models incorrect voltage/amps reporting (big sticky thread on hwinfo64 forum)?

But only talking Win OS , don't know about others?

1: The fact noblody has had that problem. they wouldn't fix to a problem they never had and therefore would have no way of knowing how to fix it

2: no mentions of this problem in the change logs for my mb bios

3: this is a problem ive had since ive had that cpu and mobo which was late 2018-early 2019 or something. Before i updated i had the factory bios with the version of the driver that came in the box and when i updated it, that was the latest version of the bios and driver at the time( which still had those issues) and i still had the clock stuck at 3850 issue which i dont have anymore since i switched to linux already telling me that a now old bios and a new driver would most likely not be the issue.

3.a: I'm on linux its not like i can use asus's driver

4: im not gonna risk updating my bios with my now janky usb ports and risk bricking my pc for the very low chance of fixing my problem it would have. Im on linux so i can't do it through the asus software either.

If you do find a thread or more  from people who had the same problem and fixed it simply by updating their bios do let me know and I'd be happy to try it when i'm sure i can afford the risk
