PC WOULD NOT BOOT WINDOWS

I have build my new pc ( upgrade ) Last week everything happened within two weeks including date of purchasing.

After I finished the build I went ahead and install a brand new fresh windows 11 . everything was fine for like 1 week or less , as I did not had time to play a lot and waited for the weekend ,I m a night shift driver so I got home on Saturday went to sleep, when I woke up  after an hour or two went to my pc turn it on .. I was on a call on discord with my friends , and when opening Counter Strike 2 ( CS2 ) after 5 min I have had my first bluescreen followed by a restart, it went into windows for like 1 min or two( it did boot windows , as I was trying to open discord and the rest of the apps) and bluescreen again , followed by a restart and since then it does not even boot windows anymore. as soon as the loading icon of windows appear it blue screens . I do not do overclock  , I do not change things into Bios , the only one thing that I do is just running or enabling XMP or XPO for memory ram that is it .

OLD pc Specs:

i9 - 11900k

MSI MEG z490 UNIFY

80GB DDr4 Corsair 3200MHz

AIO Cooler NZXT Kraken X63 280mm

Asus STRIX RTX 3080 TI

M.2 SSD Samsung : 990 pro 1tb / 980 pro 500gb / 970 evo 1tb

Power Supply(PSU) Corsair RM750x modular

New PC Specs:

AMD RYZEN 7 7800x3D

MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI and the second one as I thought I might have a faulty motherboard  is GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI.7 ICE

32GB DDr5 Corsair 6000Mhz and the second kit I bought thinking my ram is faulty again : 64GB DDr5 Crucial 6000Mhz

AIO Corsair ICUE TITAN 280 MM

SAME OLD PART

Asus STRIX RTX 3080 TI

M.2 SSD Samsung : 990 pro 1tb / 980 pro 500gb / 970 evo 1tb

Power Supply(PSU) Corsair RM750x modular

mention MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI everything up-to-date including bios all settings default

GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI.7 ICE  have not touched anything default settings

So the problem I have , is every-single time a get a diff bluescreen error from windows .

I have removed every single Ram each and tried each slot as I do have two brand new motherboards and two brand new pair of RAM sticks

I have removed my GPU .. same problem bluescreen when tried to boot windows or even try to boot an USB BOOTABLE WINDOWS . as soon it loads the windows icon blue screen

I have removed all my M.2 SSD  including GPU and tried to see if it does boot JUST the bootable stick and i have tried an m.2 bootable drive with windows on it .

Everything I have tried . I cannot find away to it .

So it does not boot windows .

Does not want to boot a bootable USB stick or M.2 bootable windows to install fresh windows 11

changed ram sticks

changed motherboards

removed all my m.2 SSD

removed my GPU

all default setting bios !!! for both motherboards with MSI being up-to-date bios .

it always crash or bluescreens at the small loading circle round windows icon. even if it boots windows or trying to boot a bootable USB stick .

It does go into bios no problems . both motherboard . I can do and change whatever I want and it stays there for hours if I leave it like that no problems at all.

it read every single component into bios.

1 Solution

So the 7800x3D was defective and now with the new 7900x3D everything is working again?

Great to hear.  Glad it turned out to be a defective CPU.  Most of the time it is a defective Motherboard since CPU are fairly hardy piece of hardware. But I guess some of the latest AMD processors have been having issues.

Personally I would keep the latest X870 Motherboard but less expensive,  since it is a newer model than the X670E Motherboard.

But it all depends which of the two is best for your situation as far as connecting hardware to the motherboard and the features each motherboard has that would be useful to you.

Both are very good Motherboards. I presume the X870 has some newer technology over the X670E motherboard but the X670E might have better quality electronic components and stronger VRM than the X870 Motherboard since it is more expensive.

19Danny96, all CAPS are not going to get you an answer any faster, and no reason for italics either. Do a Clear CMOS and run with only one stick of memory and see if that helps. Are there any error indicators on your MB? If so tell us about it. Where did the "bootable stick" come from? John.

Sorry for my all caps. I did indeed clear CMOS so many times ,unplug the power cable .. press the power button to make sure or drain all the electricity and then press clear CMOS button as well . waited for like 1 min or 2 . connect power cable back .. and nothing. I have tried every-single thing that came trough my mind, update bios , go default settings . clear CMOS , all with MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI, then I went ahead and bought a new motherboard new GIPSET X870 Gigabyte Aorus Elite wifi 7 .. put everyhing back together and same problem as soon as I tried to Boot an USB stick with a windows 11 on it or even windows 10 on it . it blue screens . I' have even made and m.2 drive bootable with windows on it.

I have an adaptor to plug the m.2  in and use it same as USB stick .

And same problem .. or even if I leave my normal m.2 drive to bot with the old windows on it it does not boot.

As soon u see windows loading icon , it blue screens . And I have tried two diff pairs of DDr5 memory.

everything brand new.

sorry for my bad ENG. as is not my main lanq.

And I do remember the first bluescreens I had it was something  blue screen hypervisor error, I had it 3 times in a row or more. then after that I have had so many bluescreens with N numbers or descriptions of errors like random errors .

Stop code :

Hypervisor error blue screen error

bad_pool_caller blue screen

BSOD PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA

WINDOWS IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

KMODE THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

those are the one I can find onto my history search

could be more then this just I did not search for it . like I said I have had so many blue screens with so many diff names or descriptions codes.

Thanks, 19Danny96. When I ask you to Clear CMOS I intended that no changes be made after the Clear. I need you to get down to the very basics so we can see if you have a MB, processor or some other problem. Are you running a Virtual Machine? The Hypervisor error indicates you are. Clear CMOS should have disabled SVM. Is the latest BIOS you are running a Beta? If so revert back to the last released BIOS. What media are you installing from? Could you install Windows on the SATA drive formatted in GPT with only one stick of memory as a test? Let me know and we can figure something out to try. Thanks, John.

First you PSU of 750 Watts is the minimum required PSU for your GTX 3080 TI but with the Ryzen 7 7800x3d it might be slightly under powered under very heavy loads in my opinion.

Since you mentioned everything was working fine when you first built your PC and then all of a sudden it started  crashing with BSODs might indicate Hardware failure or Windows Corrupted Boot Manager.

Check to make sure all your PSU and Motherboard cables are firmly connected and not loose and that the M.2 Windows drive is correctly installed.

I would run Windows CHKDSK on your Windows drive to see if it has any issues and also run Windows Memory Diagnostic or MEMTEST 86 to physically check your RAM.

If you can't boot into Windows I believe both Seagate and  Western Digital have a USB Flash drive program you can use to test your SSD for issues.

Once you are able to enter Windows I would also run in a elevated Command Prompt or Powershell using the simple command :

SFC /scannow

To check your Windows OS for corruption.

But now you are saying it won't boot into Windows at all.  What Motherboard Trouble LEDs or Digital Codes are showing when it won't boot into Windows?

Make sure BIOS is set for UEFI Mode and not CSM Mode (Legacy) .

If you have Windows 10/11 installed you should be able to restart your PC three times in a row. After or on the 3rd restart the Windows Diagnostic Menu will show up automatically. Go to Troubleshooting Menu and click on WINDOWS STARTUP issues.

For now just install your drive that has Windows installed and no other M.2 drive.

Hi Elstaci !

Right now I cannot do anything as I refunded the CPU Ryzen7 7800x3D , just post it yesterday .

I'm running out of options , and steps you guys are saying , I m not that advanced , true I have been building my pc since I was young. but with intel never ever had a problem . And there's this one time in 2024 that I let my self getting into AMD stuff .

I cannot process and my brain hurts that my pc was running just fine for 1 week( I did not played a lot or stayed on it (PC) as I did not had time , and I waited for the weekend)

In my mind all I did is to buy 3 brand new pc parts(excluding AIO even though that's new as well)

MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI and GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI.7 ICE

I bought not one two motherboards, and not one two ddr5 two pairs diff pairs one Corsair and Crucial

As I mention before I do not play with Bios , I do not change thing around bcuz I do not know(don't know what I'm doing so better not to do anything into Bios) ! I only do/enable XMP/XPO that's it for my mem to run full speed.

MisterJ Big Boss (John) said I'm running a virtual machine ?? like serious really ? I never ever heard about that ? how on Earth am I running such a thing ? all I did when I build or finished my pc , is that I installed a fresh new windows 11 , as I did not want to have any drivers issues or problems .

After a fresh windows I'll make sure I get up to date with everything , divers , mobo , gpu .etc.

and then is simple , Instaling STEAM and Discord . My windows is basic literally empty no programs even my desktop is empty, I do not like short-cuts.

So I refunded the CPU now I HAVE to wait as Amazon says 14days , I will get my refund on NOV 6.

But now I cannot find the CPU to buy it again as it is out-of-stock everywhere. just bundles with mobo.

Last night I ordered this CPU AMD Ryzen 9 7900x3D , I dont know how good it is . mainly for gaming .(Counter strike 2 / CS2 ) I really wanted the r7 7800x3d but I'm not lucky enough I see.

I should have the CPU by Tomorrow and I will let you guys know , I have spend so much money even out of my budget with this crap Called AMD .

If it does not work , I will try a new power supply as you said( Elstaci ) . if I cannot sort the problem, then I might just refund everything and go Back with intel.

Thx a lot . never thought that AMD will be such a headache. and time wasting .

I hope my English is ok and that you guys understand what am I saying .

New CPU, and headache is gone, and no bluescreens anymore when loading windows .

I have now the Ryzen 9 7900x3D and replace the Ryzen 7 7800x3D that was one week old . both cpu brand new.

I have install a fresh clean windows and is windows 10 , I will download the W11 media creation tool and install W11.

The installation of the windows 10 was successful with motherboard only , crucial ddr5 ,64gb 6000mhz ,and cpu alone , only one m.2 990pro 1tb samsung. and no GPU the rtx 3080 ti .

I will put all parts together , that I have and install windows 11 .

Can anyone help me with : need to refund some pc parts back , can anyone help me with motherboards ??

I wanna know the one that should I keep

MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI - paid for it 440£

GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI.7 ICE - paid for it 290£ ( I do know is a new Chipset )

 please !!

Thanks for marking my last reply as the "Solution" but the real "Solution" was when you replaced the CPU with a different CPU which was you last reply.

So I would mark you last reply about replacing the defective CPU with another CPU as the "Solution" to your thread.

I have not done anything yet with my pc . As I order a new power supply , that's why I have market your last reply as the "Solution".

Tomorrow I should have it and it is a ( Corsair RM1200x ShiftFully Modular ATX PowerSupply )

I have created the refund for both motherboards:

Today when the new CPU arrived , went ahead and put it into the Gigabyte Motherboard as result it worked.

Tomorrow I will try the MSI one to see if I can install windows and obvs to see if bluescreens are gone , I m a lot happier with MSI to keep , as it is a premium motherboard that offers more quality components. Hope it suits my CPU best , have not made the right decision yet , will wait tomorrow for the PSU.

Just going to have few more hours of  sleep as I m going to work tonight.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow with my pc . Cannot wait to play CS2 again

I still don't know what would cause my 7800x3D not to work again after only one week.

I happen to be a big fan of Corsair PSUs.

I bought my first Corsair PSU -850 Watts (best model at that time for Corsair which cost me almost $300.00 at that time)  about 18 years ago. Guess what it is still working in my PC with great voltages output.

I have used this same Corsair PSU in 4 different PCs that I have built myself in the past years and without fail it has provided stable voltages each time. If my old Corsair didn't have the proper PSU Port I just purchase a cable adapter to fix the problem like a GPU PCIe Power Cable.

About 4 years ago I replaced my wife Pre-built PC PSU that the fan burnt out with a 850 Watt Corsair RM model, I believe, and it still working like it is new.

Both the very old Corsair and the newer Corsair have ZERO RPM feature where the fan only turns on when the PSU is under heavy loads. Which is a good reason why they have lasted so long.

It also helps that I have my PC connected to a Cyberpower Real Sinewave output UPS for the past 12 years also which prevent the PSU from being stressed due to fluctuating voltages from the wall outlet or power outages like Brown and Black outs.  My condo used to suffer with constant power flickering for a second to a few seconds enough to shut down my PC before installing the UPS.  With the UPS my PC never shuts down unless the power outage last longer than the battery supply in my UPS or the UPS Batteries goes bad.

I just ordered and installed my third set of UPS battery for my UPS. The last two sets of Batteries lasted 6 years. Average is around 2-4 years.
