Hi, I would like to maximize the memory ram of an old pc: motherboard "SABERTOOTH 990FX / GEN3 R2.0" and cpu "Phenom II X4 910e". The motherboard can go up to 32 GB.
What type of memory is suitable for the Phenom CPU to reach 32 Gb?
Thank you.
DDR3-1600 8192MB memory is available if you wish to install 32GB total memory
best bet is to get all 4 sticks together so they have the same timings and will not be a problem
The fastest RAM vetted to work with that motherboard with four memory modules are listed below. Be aware that you will not, however, increase performance in any meaningful way, and current Ryzen processors are twice as fast, or even faster, than even the fastest Socket AM3+ 9000 series processors.
Thanks everyone for the tips.
Maybe I asked the question wrong.
What I would like to know is if my CPU can use 32 GB of ram.
I ask the forum for this because I was unable to find this information on the amd.com website, unlike intel:
I would like to continue using this CPU because it is really green: only 65W.
Thank you.
You have an AMD CPU, not an Intel CPU, and that motherboard can support 64GB.
The DMI on my MSI 970 says it can do 128GB but nobody sells DDR3 in 32GB sticks that I seen.
DDR4 32GB sticks are abundant though. DMI for my X570 says max memory is 256GB but no 64GB sticks yet.
