This User with the same Threadripper was able to install Windows 11 on his unsupported Windows PC: https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/windows-11-chipset-drivers-with-threadripper-1-gen-195...

Ask him how he was able to install Windows 11 on his 1950x Threadripper computer.

If you're planning to use the same old system, it's easier to continue to use windows 10. Windows 11 is relatively new and has teething issues. Kindly refer to  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-home-and-pro

You may still use windows 10 up to 2025. By that time your CPU is too old just like mine - TR 1950X

rufus can be used to create a boot USB with W11 disabling requirements  for Safe Boot and TPM and more. Enjoy, John.

It's not worth, Microsoft already said updates won't be compatible with people running Windows 11 on non fTPM hardware, you'll get no updates, and when other components start attempting to use fTPM chip you'll run into stability issues.

This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for running Windows 11 - these requirements help ensure a more reliable and higher quality experience. Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may result in compatibility issues. If you proceed with installing Windows 11, your PC will no longer be supported and won't be entitled to receive updates. Damages to your PC due to lack of compatibility aren't covered under the manufacturer warranty. - Microsoft

I just installed a new Samsung 980 PRO NVME (on my DIMM.2 ASUS board) which will be where I will be installing Windows 11 Pro. I also upgraded the BIOS to 2501 and enabled TPM 2.0 on my ASUS ROG ZENITH EXTREME motherboard with my AMD THREADRIPPER 1950X.

After installing Windows 11 Pro on my Samsung 980 PRO NVME, a dual boot automatically set itself up with Windows 10 Pro on my Samsung 960 PRO NVME and Windows 11 Pro on the Samsung 980 PRO NVME. Can't believe how fast Windows 11 booted up and is running on the Samsung 980 PRO NVME. When I selected Windows 11 from the dual boot menu, it booted up almost in the wink of my eye. All the Windows updates installed without any issues whatsoever. Try it. You will love it. I guarantee it.

Note: Even though Windows 10 Updates indicates "This PC doesn't currently meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11, it's running great (as noted above).

Been running win11 for a long time now the computer updated itself so that part works. The only downside I have received a small text in the bottom right corner where it complains about unknown cpu.

I have been looking into your issue and don't seem to have this same text displayed in the bottom right of either one of my displays about an unknown CPU. Are you running the same CPU as I have with the AMD 1950X? Are you running the 2501 BIOS? There is probably a registry key that keeps that from showing but I don't remember ever making that kind of change on my system. I'll keep looking and see if I can find anything about this kind of text being displayed.

Thanks, @chuck43105 for the optimistic posting! I was pessimistic about whether I could install Windows 11 on my Threadripper 1950X machine with a Gigabyte X399 AORUS Gaming 7 mainboard, because Windows 10 stated that my CPU did no qualify for Windows 11.

But after reading your comment and double-checking the implementation of TPM 2.0 in the latest BIOS versions for my mainboard, I tried to install Windows 11... and it went absolutely smoothly!

No issues at all! Windows 11 installed and works perfectly fine with my AMD Threadripper 1950X / Gigabyte X399 AORUS Gaming 7 mainboard having the latest BIOS F13a installed.

Threadripper 1950X is indeed fully supported by Windows 11 (if the BIOS of the mainboard has implemented TPM 2.0), and Windows 10 is just misleading.

It's really cool to see the PC boot so fast again.

Thanks a lot again for sharing your positive experience!

 Hi there,

Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

I have updated the BIOS...

Ronald1, open a new thread. This subject is marked Resolved. The 1950X has no provision for TPM support. The only solution I am aware of is Rufus with an option that removes requirement for the TPM. John.

I'm not a tech expert, but I have an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x processor and was able to turn TPM support on in my BIOS. However, I still get the message that the 1950x processor is not currently supported in Windows 11.

Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 and go to the Windows 11 installation assistant. I clicked the Download Now button and downloaded the Windows 11 24H2 ISO. Using the imgburn freeware software, I burned a new bootable Windows 11 24H2 DVD. In my case I had a dual boot system with 1 SAMSUNG 960 NVME M.2 SSD disk with Windows 10 in it and another one with a SAMSUNG 980 NVME M.2 SSD which had the Windows 11 version 22H2 which was the one that hit the end of its life span and couldn’t be upgraded. I restarted that disk and when it hit the UEFI, I pressed F8 a few times to get it to show the screen so I could select which DVD disk player/burner that had the bootable Windows 11 disk in it with version 24H2. I selected INSTALL Windows 11 option and when it got to the screen that requested which disk to install Windows 11 on, I selected the NVME M.2 disk with Windows 10 on it. I continued through all the prompts for Windows 11 24H2 on it. It continued installing the newest Windows 11 and I upgraded that disk. It then installed all the newest operating system updates software. I then installed all the other software like antivirus and other programs that I had on the Windows 11 22H2 disk. It kind of takes a long time but luckily I had a backup disk with all my software on it and the registration IDs. I now have a bootable Windows 11 24H2 disk and everything is working great.

Hopefully this writeup will help you. If you don’t have a DVD burner, I believe you can install the bootable Windows 11 24H2 on a thumb drive. from the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11  website.

first ditch the AMD trash unless you want to replace every couple of years ( by that i mean new amd cpu every couple of years due to it failing under NORMAL NON overclocked usage), second get one of the intel x299 boards and cpus far superior and ARE on the approved cpu list for win 11 from what ive seen just know ive had several X299 intel machines all with different cpus and all of them installed win 11 no problem.

lastly in all honesty win 11 isnt all of that, hell one of mshafts own updatates is spyware.  every machine i own is currently running 10 having reverted to 10 from11 on some of them and will stay for now and when it comes time to switch all my machines will move to linux.  im sick of this having to upgrade or switch constantly.  when you think about it for a second you realise that mshaft is obsoletign hardware sitting on store shelves with every new os and hardware makers rushing new products out leading to poor quality junk threadripper is one of such products and before you say anythign about warranty i will let you know you are good if your product is intel or nvidia, if you have amd you are SOL.  cant tell you how many times i was denied warranty by amd ( Already Mass Destructed).  even with them being given reciepts, links to purchase recipets online they still denied my warrantes once amd even had the balls to claim i doctored the online receipt from newegg ( was one of the threeadrippers i HAD) which failed in under a year.

so again ditch anm buy intel and nvidia and not only is problem solved but you will actually get quality product but you you also wont have to worry about not having the manufacturers warranty becuase fact is amd does NOT have a warranty regardless of the text on amds packaging or what they claim to have.  what amd does is claim to offer a warranty to get you to buy their junk then they deny your warranty.

an example of amd lack of warranty :  had a tr chip fail after 6 months put in warranty claim, amd requested receipt etc, i provided, tehy get back to me with denied.  i asked amd why, only to be told the receipt was fake ( it wasnt).  so i sent them the link to the product purchase page, they agan denied making the outlandish claim the online receipt page was maniulated.  anyway, after multiple denials i had fi.nally had enough, i contacted newegg and told them what was going on and how amd was denying my warranty and told them about what amd was saying about the receipt to which newegg offered to e-mail and submit the receipt to prove its validity ( which i honestly had my doubts at that point that that would even do anything to which was proven to be accurate assesment as again amd yet again denied with claiming receipt page fake but also accused me of making fake newegg e-mail address.

moral of the story all my product purchases moving forward will be intel and nvidia until such time a 3rd party appears on the scene which i would give a try but amd NEVER again.
