Hi recently 2 months ago I had upgrade my pc a bit, I bought a new CPU Mobo Ram and through some troubleshooting bought a new psu.
My current build-
CPU - Ryzen 3600X
GPU-GTX 1060 3gb
Ram-Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GBx2
PSU- Cooler master masterwatt 750W Bronze
Mobo- ASUS Prime x570-P
SSD and 2 HDD's can find the names if It is relevant I have been having crashes for a long time now, and I have made several posts on different forums and not been able to get my problem fixed. Gaming or not gaming I still crash, I have checked temps my cpu under load hits in the 70ish area usually max is 76. I have ran Memtest to see if it is my ram did 4 passes 0 errors, Tried didn't frequency's. I have installed fresh copies of windows several times, I have updated my bios twice now. I did CHK check on my drives to see if they were making errors. SFC /scannow came up with a few errors and fixed them and every scan after does not find errors. People started saying it was my power supply so I swapped that out still no dice. I really don't know what to do I am a pc noob I can put them together but don't understand all the logs and stuff. Upon further investigation I found a error in Event Viewer
A fatal hardware error has occurred.
Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 0
The details view of this entry contains further information.
Event ID 18
I need help I don't know why this is happening and no matter what I do it doesn't fix.
My old thread if this helps, https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/random-computer-crashing.3659556/#post-22145598
bump
hi
1. upgrade to latest BIOS
2. do a CMOS reset
3. leave EVERYTHING on "AUTO" (no XMP etc)
4. test again
mh, do you have your Chipset drivers installed?
I have latest chipset, and bios is at its newest version I will try the cmos thing...
I have completed the cmos reset I believe, I didn't have a jumper with my motherboard so had to find an old 1, when I rebooted I had no picture and reset after a while.
mh, did it work after the reset?
usually you should have seen a bios prompt that your bios is reseted
I saw a prompt that said recovering bios settings.
Just crashed whatever I did, crashing was not fixed.
is XMP/DOCP enabled?
Suggest trying a BIOS with AGESA 1.1.9.0, that is solving the WHEA errors and idle crashing for many (but not all) users with Zen 3.
I looked for AGESA 1.1.9.0 on my MB site, but I can't find it. Can you confirm that i'm not missing it, and if I'm not, what are my options?
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX
I didnt see any DOCP my stuff was on auto
mh, did you already flashed the newest bios?
if yes - maybe wait 3-6 weeks until the new AGESA rolls out - maybe it fixes your problems
Yes I have latest bios so I'm basically just stuck with stuff that doesn't work for 3-6 weeks?
you could try a fresh install of Win10 20H2
20H2? and I have reinstalled windows many many times idk if the actual microsoft site gives me bad windows.
20H2 is the latest Win10
do a fresh install of that - via a USB you created with current media creation tool
I had a similar issue with an older chipset board, Try the reinstall with only one RAM stick installed and then once installed, shut down and install the second. This was the only thing that fixed my system. I hope this helps.
I'll try this out and update it it helps
Didn't fix anything for me still crashing
So the beta for this AGESA 1.1.9.0 came out 5 days ago I noticed should I try my luck with the beta version to see if it fixes?
@GagneWest
yeah - that is what a person would try to fix that issue ;)
btw - disable ALL OC (also no XMP etc)
Ah kk well it made no difference, is there anything else this could be other than bios?
If u think its the bios try downloading Bios ver 1405 and trying that.MY x570-P came with that ver installed and I am still running it with my 3700x with no issues. If that doesn't fix it I'd say most likely u got either a hardware issue or bad cpu/motherboard.
When I try to flash to 1405 It gives me the error that its not a proper bios?
Hello, GagneWest,
I researched the entire specs of your build and have found the following. The Ram-Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GBx2 technical specs state that it's only 'compatible' with Intel systems? It states it in the following:
VENGEANCE® LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit - Black (corsair.com)
which is direct from the manufacturers website so I think that this is your main issue.
I hope this fixes the issues you are having.
Good Luck, and stay safe out there!
I will order new ram tonight and update when I have it installed if my issue is fixed, thank you I used pc part picker and it didnt pick up this problem when I built it. Strange.
Also I have the 3200 C16
OK, I was wrong then the RAM you have is compatible. I was researching the wrong RAM.
The Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GBx2 C16 3200 is the correct RAM, but the fault you have makes me think Hardware fault, either RAM, CPU, or MOBO. I would send the RAM back first, getting it replaced will hopefully fix the issue, if not move onto the CPU and then the MOBO.
Good Luck!
wrong order
1st is ALWAYS the MoBo ;) - because this is the one that makes problems with CPU and RAM
2nd is CPU - because if MoBo change didnt help its most likely the CPU
3rd RAM - if its not the cheapest RAM you could find than its should work
Well I just ordered new ram so thats good to know lmfao
well lets say this:
my good old GA-AX370-Gaming 5 doesnt worked nice with Ripjaws V - but work totally fine with Trident-Z RGB (with same latency etc)
so changing RAM can help
well it comes in saturday I will update if I crash still, if I am still crashing do you have any recommendations for a mobo I should swap to, I cant rma because I gave my old parts to a buddy so I cant sit without a pc for 1-2 months.
So weird thing I was playing path of exile for literally like a week straight no crashes but as soon as I went to go play warcraft 3 my crashing problem is back. Idk if this helps
Hi GagneWest,
The system was running 'stable' with the new RAM until you changed to a different game.
Check your RAM timings in BIOS, to see if the system has determined the correct timings, research the correct timings and update them, although be careful while changing these, as setting the wrong timings, 'can and will lock you out of your system' with a black screen on Bootup!
\*Backup your BIOS to a USB flash drive before making any changes, and use it to flash back to your previous 'stable' timing settings.*\
Also the fact that there is a 'sync' in timings between the RAM and CPU, may be the major issue here. 'Older games', may have an issue to update? I'm not sure?
Good luck with this, as it can be tedious!
is there a site that can help me with this? all the stuff I'm finding makes no sense to me.
Hi,
I would advise to go to the forums of your RAM manufacturer and seek the correct info from there, usually the correct timings will be on their website.
My auto D.C.O.P has all the correct timings speed and voltage in bios already just checked
About every time I crash I can find this error in my Event Viewer
A fatal hardware error has occurred.
Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 0

Hi, GagneWest,
Do a surface scan on the system to check for corrupt files:
1. Open a command prompt as Admin.
2 Type SFC /Scannow, then press enter.
If this does not fix the issue, try to re-flash your BIOS. These are the only things I can think to do. Have you reported this issue to Microsoft, I think you should. I found this in Microsoft error reporting forums:
I think you should refer to Microsoft Feedback hub as they will likely have the answer.
Good Luck.
