hi guys i like to ask 3 question about AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D

i heard about these cpus are  melting and takeing the motherboard with them and many people start blaming this to ASUS that they fuc.. up the voltage clock or something.

So heres my questions

1:is it safe to buy ASUS motherboard or sould i buy from other company like msi,asrock,gigabyte ? and whats the best ?

2: this melting effect only the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D or all the other 9 serrise cpus?

3:i have a Be Quiet! Silent Loop 2 360mm with m5 support but idk i can use it with V-Cache models and i dont find the answer on the net.

1. I have an Asus TuF Gaming mb with a 7950x and have had no issues; however saying this if I was building now, I would avoid ASUS until they take responsibility for pushing a BIOS update to fix the issue of over voltage to the cpu, that they also indicate will void warranty if used. If that's the case they should not place it in their official downloads. Complete **bleep** move by them

2. It does not only affect the 7950X3D

3. The z (height) of all chips that use an AM5 mb is the same. They would not sit within the retaining bracket if they were different sizes, so the cooler 'will fit', however whether it's cooling profile is suitable to use with your cpu is very much up to Be Quiet to verify and that question will need to be directed to them.

Can i ask 2 more question ?

1 if not asus what motherboard brand you suggest ? i heard about ASrock become very good but bakc in a days were budget category or atlest this is what all vtubers say.

2 i have motherboard now with 8pin and 4 pin cpu slot next to each other idk if i need to use both or just the 8 pin. I read on net 4 pin its for older pc cables or something and im curious  how you use your cpu power cables. thank you agein for your answer.

Hi,

1. I'd say that MSI and Gigabyte have a good reputation. I've never used AsRock but they had a poorer rep than other manufacturers, but would go on others comments about them now and their efforts to support AM5. If they have good AM5 products and offer good aftersales support (Bios updates, warranty period, RMA process) its worth a go if it fits better with your budget.
2. I've only used the 8 pin and have no stability issues. I understand the extra 4 pin can provide additional power should you be overclocking (not an alternative as older CPUs are not supported in the board and manufacturers wouldn't waste money putting something there that's not needed). As the issue is too much power to the CPU, safe to say pushing more voltage through to overclock is currently not a good idea

2. Not sure. I have only heared about the X3D melting. My Asus TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS has not melted my 7900x yet atleast
