5950X WHEA Errors Help.

Good day to everyone, I might need some help regarding some random PC restarts I've been having recently. It started back in December (I think). The PC just randomly froze a bit, then restarted. No Dump Files generated even though I set it to not restart on a System failure. However there some files inside the Whea folder. I've been monitoring it and it seems to be really random. It never happened when I was gaming though, even with the current release of MHWilds, it seems fine. Last random restart was a few hours after playing though so I don't think it was caused by that. PC just randomly restarted. The errors in event viewer are always the same reading as follows...

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

And then followed by another one saying...

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 22

The details view of this entry contains further information.

My PC details are as follows...

Processor : AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

GPU : Colorful Nvidia RTX 3070 TI

Motherboard : Asus TUF Gaming B550M-Zaku (Wifi)

RAM : G Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 16GBx4 (64GB total)

PSU : Asus Prime 850w 80+ Gold

Cooler : NZXT Kraken Z3

Here are the files inside the WHEA folder and the latest Mini Dump files I can see.

Link : WHEA Files

Link : One Mini Dump File

It really just happens randomly from just idling about, to just watching Youtube videos and stuff. I have the automatic restart set off so it can record any BSOD but so far that Mini Dump is the only one there from recently. The other Mini Dumps are from more than a year ago and is around 4 other Mini Dumps. I really hope someone can help with this. If any other info is needed I think I can proviu

Are you using curve optimizer? To much of a - negative curve can cause individual cores to error like that.

Good day! As far as I know, I didn't use any of the sort. I have the rig since 2021. The freezing started a month or two ago. When it started happening I have not updated the BIOS yet (Only updated it once back in 2023). So I updated it to the latest version which was just back in 2024. That somehow fixed the problem for a bit (Around a week or so) then happened again. If it is caused by a curve optimizer, can You guide me on how to deal with that? I pretty much don't know anything about curve optimizers, not sure if the store I bought it from did that before handing the rig to me...

Hi,

i've had similar issues with my build (5900x on a Asus TUF gaming x570). You could give a try to:

- avoid all optimization of CPU in AI Tweaker TAB (check if curve optimizer is set here, pay attention to auto, best to set it to positive or negative 0)

- DO CPU settings (PBO, curve optimizer, ...) on advanced TAB (if you wish to apply any optimization)

This made my build had no more BSOD's, also setting some CPU optimization (put some negative on curve optimizer, lowered CPU thermal limit, played with PPT/EDC/... [then set them back to default])

If this doesn't help try to set a positive offset (curve optimizer) on core 22

Hope this could help you,

Stefano

Hi! I will try this in a bit. Will report back what happens when I let it run with the settings You suggested. Thanks!

So first I turned of C State from Auto to Disabled. Let the PC go into sleep mode for the night, woke it up a while ago after I woke up and it didn't froze up. Usually it freezes randomly a few moments after the PC wakes up. Will continue to monitor it and fiddle with the other settings undert AI Tweaker if it freezes up again.
