Hello,
I'm working on 3dsmax + Corona, W10 64bits and for a year, my 2990WX is very slow. When i launch 3D renders, in the performances tab (from task manager), CPU's use was starting on 100% and quickly decreasing to 74% more or less.
The warranty was over but i sent back to the manufacturer (PCspecialist), they didnt find anything. They only changed the hermal paste. It was last year. Nothing changed.
Now, it became even slower, running sometimes at 50%
My bios version is F5c PI and here is a thaiphoon screenshot
All those screenshot have been taken during the cinebench rendering. At the end, the frequency is something like 1,6GHz
i updated the latest motherboard chipset's driver from the gigabyte website (X399 aorus xtreme-cf)
Don't know what else could i do.
Thanks for your help !

arnokok, not reading your language makes it very difficult for me to figure out what is going on. It looks like you are running only half of the possible threads. To begin with you should stay away from any MB Easy mode or what ever is claimed to be helping you. You should do a Clear CMOS and see if Ryzen Master sees 64 logical processors. Right now it is seeing only 32. Do you have SMT (Simultaneous Muli-threading Turned off? Good luck. I will look some more, but we know what the problem is and it accounts for about 50%. Enjoy, John.
Hey again,
I went in my bios options. When i switched to "easy mode", it appears i'm running into safe energy mode, don't know why.
The weird thing is that i can not change that option and i can't find the equivalent in advanced (or normal) mode.
Thanks !

Thanks for your answer, i'm sorry for my english which is definitly not as good
However, i'm glad to inform you that the solution you suggested worked ! I did a clear Cmos and everything seems to be back to normal, so thanks for your help !
arnokok, you are very welcome. I still do not know what caused the problem, but please be careful using free utilities that claim to improve your system. BTW, your English is fine, it is Ryzen Master that confused me. I also noticed your memory is running at 1300 MHz, ie 2600 MTransfers per second. I just saw the other posts after clearing CMOS. It looks like you have the same problem back. I suspect some 'boost' utility is auto running on boot that is setting some bad BIOS parameters. The latest RM screenshot shows memory at 1333 MHz but still shows only 32 logical processors. I do not know what this means: 'Downcore control: auto (i can choose different options, like "SIX (3+3) or FOUR (2+2)'. But again I think some utility is running at startup that is causing the problems. If you want to see a good picture of what is going on, then get a screenshot of RM while Cinebench is running (post it please). Try this right after Clear CMOS (no reboot). You will need to chase down what application is causing the problems or reinstall Windows (what version are you running?). Enjoy, John.
arnokok, I am sorry but I was wrong about RM showing logical processors. I remembered, erroneously that I saw all 64 logical processor on my 3970X. It is showing only physical cores. It is the W10 Task Manager that shows logical processors. On your posted screenshot, I see something I cannot reproduce:
What does the (xx%) describe, possibly Kernel time and how do you get this display? Also please look in the Task Manager on the Startup tab and see if you can identify the application that is changing settings on you. Thanks and enjoy, John.
Hi again,
Finally, it appeared the clear Cmos didnt fix the problem:
After clearing Cmos, i launched a cinebench. I could not say if there were 64 logical processors or not, but the CPU use level was 100%, its frequency was 3Ghz.
I reboot the computer and when i launched a new cinebench, the CPU use level is not 100% anymore, but 62%. Frequency was not 3GHz anymore, but 1,86Ghz as you can see on screenshot below:
I checked the bios and here are the settings:
in the M.I.T menu:
You can see below the 3 cinebench results i made since yesterday. The higher score has been done just after clearing Cmos
Thanks for your help
