So I have had this problem for a very long time (about 3 years). When all cores are active on my 2950x my pc will hard freeze in a matter of minutes when idles or just browsing the internet. When the system is under load, like gaming, it never crashes. I have had to run my processor in game mode with half of the cores disabled to be able to use it normally. I do not want to do this nor do I think I should have to do this. I have run memtest86 over night several times, I have even went as far as to replace the ram and unplugged my hard drives then added brand new nvme drives, the problem still persists. There is something fundamentally wrong with this processor and I have no idea how to fix this issue. I have done a clean windows reinstall about 20 or 30 times, and the problem occurs even if i just did a fresh windows install and left it idle, without installing anything else. This problem occurs if I am using precision boost overdrive or not. All drivers are up to date and from the AMD website. Suggestions are very welcome here.
