Unable to run samsung G9, 240hz monitor at 240Hz through a Radeon VII

I have a new samsung G9 monitor that supports 240hz refresh rates @ 5120 by 1440 resolution.

However on switching to 240hz - via the monitors settings menu.

The screen goes blank.

I am attempting to drive this with a Radeon VII graphics card

The windows "display settings"-"advanced display settings" - "Radeon VII Properties" gives me a maximum  Monitor refresh rate of 240Hz.

Does this imply that the Radeon VII card is unable to drive this monitor at 240hz OR ??

I had Radeon VII in the past, sadly your GPU does not support Display Stream Compression Display port 1.4 with DSC

Only AMD Radeon 6000 & 5000 series and Nvidia RTX 2000 and above can handle giant bandwidth thanks to DSC.

Having the same problem although i have a new 6900 XT Toxic and while my old 1080Ti could run my ROG Swift at 144Hz the 6900 has a max of 120hz on the monitor. Cannot get it any higher without out of  range ?
