When I tried to play 4K videos on YouTube using Firefox and Edge, there was regular stuttering.
But when I turned it on full screen, there was no more stuttering.
For your info : 4K playback on youtube is very regulated and script infested, you actually need to pay for it unless you don't, then you will get free stutters forever. Try paying and you'll know...
There is an invisible war going on between youtube and freeloaders thus we always will face the consequences of their actions.
Today it's this problem and tomorrow we get new issues.
This is been going on for years now but nobody seem to notice.
They want money otherwise they make our internet miserable like microsoft has always done and now it's considered normal while in fact they are all criminal organizations. (microsoft, intel, amd, nvidia, apple etc...)
They control everyones hardware no matter how hard you try to get control they will undo in no time.
People should put no trust in any US based company since they don't give a **** about us.
This forum for example is made by AMD to let the community work for them without paying them a single penny.
I call that slavery !
This isn't a YouTube issue - I have the same problem watching videos on other video sites :(
The post above mentions YouTube Premium. I should clarify that I have tested this issue for long enough to have been in and out of Premium and it makes no difference, the stutters are all the same. No issues in Windows with a Vega 56, no issues at all under Linux on the very 6900 XT that I have trouble with. I don't use Edge, but Firefox does it both in the small player and fullscreen.
That's right. I've tried Linux before and didn't experience any stutter issues. I initially thought it was a Firefox issue, but then I discovered that the same issue also occurs with Edge.
It really has everything to do with total control of 4K videos in general and no it has nothing to do with youtube premium.
Google's plan is here for all to see and use : Google's Plan
I'm back.
This time I tried to enable the integrated graphics of the 7800X3D and set the browser to run with the integrated graphics.
The stuttering problem disappeared temporarily.
So it could be a graphics card problem? But everything works fine under Linux, which is weird.
If you use very early drivers in Windows this issue doesn't exist, I think every driver after the DX11 performance improvements (22.5.2) is borked for Firefox and smooth DXVA video playback in general. I can also echo that Linux has rock solid frame pacing on videos for everything I tested on the 6900 XT.
Sanity check: I had to buy a video card for my office computer (Ryzen 5900X), so I went for the cheapest used RTX 3060 I could find. Reverted back to default settings in Firefox, Gamers Nexus video set to 2160p60, it runs smoothly and the video decode usage is only at 30 to 40% instead of 90%.
