I have only ever built one gaming pc and have only had the GTX 970 since 4 or 5 years ago now. I tried breaking the bank and upgrading to the RTX 2080 Ti 3 times now and everytime I have had issues with the card. Now with the recent DLSS murmer and RTX, I can't help to think that is the premium worth it for 10 - 20 more FPS?
So I want to switch to AMD.
The only experience I ever had with AMD graphics was with a laptop which had a 58.. something something ... And tbh had no problems at all.
I know the obvious choice would be to go for the Radeon 7 but with it trading blows with a 1080ti and 2080 I don't think I want to pay a premium for something that was £600-£700 2 years ago...
So I don't know which card to go for that would give me a decent performance and not break the bank... The RX Vega cards seem to be good, especially with the prices going down. But I can't seem to find a good, reliable one of those anywhere.
Can anyone help? I am from UK btw so any help and deals would be helpful. Thanks!
I'd recommend going for something 6000-series. I don't know much about Radeon 7 but I looked at some benchmark comparisons and like a 6700XT outperforms it noticably. You can get 6700XT/6750XTs on UKs Amazon for like 350-400 or so pounds usually right now and their performance is very similar to 2080ti while being much cheaper (a bit faster than a 2080ti in some games and a bit slower in others, usually 3-5 fps difference). If your buget goes further for 400+ pounds you can usually find a 6800, which is even better. Or a bit further and a 6800XT is well within grasp. I myself am using a 6700XT and have been very happy with it.
Basically, I'd suggest looking into RX 6000 series cards. They are quite affordable right now due to the 2020-2022 hardwareapocalypse and oversaturation that happened after. Alternatively, the 7000 series cards are a thing too but they were very overpriced on launch and depending on what deals are available to you might not be very much worth it.
At this time and before the 7800 makes its appearance, the 6750XT is a sweet spot for budget conscious players while the 6800XT can still give amazing playing levels for some years to come.
If your budget is really tight like, not much more than a couple of hundred, then 7600 could be the answer.
If you have Amazon available at your location, amazon deals are a great way to go. I saved a lot and they still have warranty on used - like new artickes
Good luck
You won't be disappointed
Id go with 6000 series as they are noticeably cheaper that the 7000 series and still give good performance. My previous card was an MSI RX6700 XT Gaming X and it packed a lot of punch and at a reasonable price. Current card is the Sapphire Nitro + RX6900 XT SE which will go blow for blow with some of the 7000 series cards
