Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX RGB LED Strip won't turn on.

Hello!

Is there any way to manually turn on/off the GPU's RGB let strips?

Mystic light won't show my GPU on it. My Nitro+ 7900 xtx works beautifully in games and everything else. But I can't get the RGB strips to light up. Even on Nitro Glow on Trixx 9.0. No option turns the strip on. Even using external option doesn't work. It was working fine until I was trying out Mystic light, Dragon Center and Signal RGB. I had to update the LED Firmware and it started working with every softwar until on one occasion it turned off and hasn't turned back on yet after many uninstalls of every single RGB related software. Any ideas?

I'm on a MSI B650 tomahawk wifi board

Did you ever get this resolved? Went through support with sapphire and they suggested replacing through warranty. Its just hard to believe that its truly a hardware issue.

Indeed, i don’t understand, the argb cable is provided by Saphirre in the Gpu Box. It should work correctly normaly and at worst introduce a software issue but not an hardware issue…

Not yet. I'm on a Sapphiretech support ticket and they forwarded me to althonmicro because they wanted me to contact them to check out the issue.

I recorded this short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrws4R5w-qo and sent it to sapphire tech support and after that they told me althon wanted me to contact them.

Unfortunately I sent them an e-mail friday afternoon so I'm afraid I might not get any news until tomorrow or further into the week.

Hi,

Same issue, it has worked fine (rgb…) until i used the sapphire argb cable included in the gpu box to manage the led light. The led is off and no solution to set it on again even with Sapphire Trixx v9 software and even after Windows Reinstallation, Bios Switch, Power off for hours…

have you solved it somehow?

Hi!
Can you tell me how the case ended ? I have the same problem. I connected a 3 pin, 5v RGB cable and the light went out.

I have.: NITRO+ AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 XT SE VGA

Hey.

Its an odd one. If i overclock the cpu via adrenaline. Then go back to default settings it tries to boot up but fails. So i do a hard reset and boom turns the rgb strip on. Then it runs for abit and then something in the amd software turns it back off again. Runs fine using aura sync, L connect 3 and Trixx. Definitely something on amds end

Definitely software related. It was running fine for me. I started with trixx set it to external source. Then downloaded armoury crate and got it all to sync with everything. Then download L connect 3 and boom rgb turns off. Every time i boot my pc it turns on with mb sync but then L connect kicks in with log in and boom off again.

Hi,

I would suggest to remove that motherboard lighting software completely (not sure if mystic light has an uninstaller like amoury crate ). I did also remove ICUE lighting software with revouinstaller free ver. Then i installed signal rgb and manage to get to sync and light up. Only finnicky part about signal rgb ,it does not detect the Nitro 7900xtx  but instead we need to add in custom strip (30 LEDS value or so ) and remember to tick external sources in Trixx software too.

Hope this helps.

I would try and revert the firmware for the LED strip, also check what your mobo led lighting is set at. I have the Nitro+ RX6900 XT SE and when i used the argb cable to the motherboard all lights went out, this was due to RGB Fusion mobo sync option which had the led's set to off. Removed the cable and used Trixx and no issue.

Did someone managed to fix this? I am having the same problem with the Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT. I can't seem to find a way to make the LEDs light up.

Sapphire told me this...I'll try but I'm not very confident.
Dear Sir:
Please help us perform the following steps once you want to update the new Catalyst driver:

0. Format and reinstall a pure operating system.

1. Use Windows Update to get all the latest hotfixes, including 22H2 or later.

2. Download and install the latest Catalyst V23.12.1 driver, then turn off your PC.

Apparently there is no way to fix this until now, the last message i got from the Sapphire Support germany was where they told me that they redirect my issue to the Team in Hong Kong.

i got mine rma‘d and tried pluging the argb cable again, but this time i did a full power cycle on my pc and made sure theres no left power. It worked like a charm the argb does work.

Same issue with me.
Is there anything new, everyone?  I just upgraded to trixx .9.7 but everything is still the same

Nope, no news, I'm following lots of threads about it but no one seems to have solved it.

I tried to uninstall and reset everything multiple times without any luck.

Just got my 7900xt nitro yesterday , modded a new 4000D case for it so im kind of going crazy now......

Question 1 : did any of you use open rgb ???

I had open rgb on my pc and wanted it to control my leds and let them change according to temperature .

jrainbow 1 wich has my leds from watercooler jrainbow 2 controls my case fans for gpu but I immediately got a warning that controlling this gpu could permanently damage it so I stopped right away but now I can't even go back to trixx now , I can still use it synced with dragon center but that's not what I really want as it can't change according to temps of the GPU only works for CPU .......

Question 2 :  did any of you try the gpu on a different pc ?

I could go and get some parts for my previous build and test it just to make sure it's not "damaged" what I would seriously doubt  as it still works fine with dragon center but I also just spend a whole lot of money just now and would prefer to wait till next paycheck....at least but then I've passed the 14 days return policy.

This needs to get fixed asap have the rgb fans on the way aswell

Good morning! I'm from Brazil, yesterday my Sapphire 7800Xt Nitro turned off the LEDs and they didn't turn on again. Has anyone gotten any light yet? I also noticed that the fan sensors report 0 rpm, even though they are spinning normally. Trixx and no other app can make the lighting return.

the cards and all 7800 and 7900 sapphire nitro have bad controllers. theres no fix, theres a hardware workaround i can help you with however friend. if you pull the card and look at the rear by the pcie, youll notice a 4pin and 8 pin connector. the 8 pin is the gpu fans. the 4 pin is the rgb from gpu board to the led strip, if u disconnect the 4 pin led strip and splice it to longer 3pin argb cable, you can plug the led strip directly into ur mobo, and control the strip via mobo. but youd have to correctly wire the pins. msg for more details, my brother just helped me splice mine. i didnt want to rma card and get the same issue.

this may void warrantee and wont get the sappire plate under the gpu to light up but who cares. Sapphire dropped the ball here but i do have a solid work around :D.

First of all, thank you very much for the answer! I had a 7800xt nitro that had problems with the LEDs. I requested RMA and as soon as the new one arrived I sold it! But now, as fate would have it, lol, I bought a used 7900 nitro, which is perfect! But I'm afraid that the LEDs will give me problems. It would be great to already have a solution in case I have problems... ARGB only has 3 pins, right? The LED connector on the board has 4 pins! Could it be that the RGB is 12V and not 5V? I'm asking this because I'm not sure how I would connect it... Would I connect it to 12V or 5V?
SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IF THERE ARE MISTAKES, I'M NOT FLUENT..!

hey Boss, so we deduced that the signal has  a redundant cable. so we used the positive, ground/neg and one of the 2 signal cables.

as you can see here the positive is already labeled, i believe the opposite side is negative, middle 2 is both signal wires, one being a failover, so we used the first of the 3, the one next to positive for signal. left side for ground

also, i took my card apart and varified where these wires lead, the 6 pin is for the 3 fans, the 4 pin goes directly to the led bar.

also if ur using openrgb with ur mobo, assign 30 leds.

If the RGB LED strip on your Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX isn’t turning on, here are a few steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check Connections: Ensure the LED strip is securely connected to the GPU and that all cables are properly seated.

  2. Software Settings: Verify the RGB settings in the Sapphire TriXX software or any other RGB control software you are using. Ensure the LEDs are not disabled or set to an "off" state.

  3. Update Software/Firmware: Make sure your GPU drivers and RGB control software are updated to the latest versions, as outdated software can cause functionality issues.

  4. Power Supply Check: Ensure your power supply is delivering adequate power to the GPU. A lack of sufficient power could affect the LED strip.

  5. Test RGB on Another System: If possible, test the GPU in another system to rule out motherboard or compatibility issues.

  6. Inspect for Damage: Look for any physical damage to the LED strip or connectors.

If the problem persists, consider contacting Sapphire’s support team for further assistance or a potential replacement if the LED strip is faulty.

So after months of everything working perfectly it all stopped again , now i also have no fans showing up and no option to change vbios in triix ....tried everything this time.

Performance definitely dropped and I appear to be running only in pcie x 4.0 x 8 .

After seeing more and more people with this vbios problem i guess rma is all that's left now !
