RX 6900XT clock speeds are dropping

Hello, I'm using an RX 6900XT and the clock speed of this card is dropping continuously.

Why is this? This card is not performing well right now...

Please describe those drops more precisely. What are we talking about?

Drops way below 2000 Mhz? Then set the minimum frequency in the driver to 2000

Values between 2100-2400 are normal an this depends on temperature, power consumption and gpu load.

The RX 6xxx cards all throttle up/down based on a multitude of things it monitors including: Heat, Voltage and Usage as the main three factors I can think of.

For a first step I would crank the fans to 100% on the card and run a 10-15 minute stress test to see if the clocks remain stable or continue to fluctuate. If that solves your problem then create a custom fan curve that is a bit more aggressive than the stock settings.

You can also pump the allowed power up as well to see if that helps. (Not before raising the fan speeds) Keep in mind, more power usually means more heat so you may have to set a lower mv (gpu voltage) limit to get better performance. I believe 1050-1070mv is what many are using to achieve higher performance.

You can also bump up the memory speed a bit. (1980-2000)

None of this should be done all in one shot, I recommend watching a few GPU overclocking guides not just for overclocking but also for more knowledge about your card and how it can perform in certain situations. Essentially you will do all of these things individually while running a stress test of some sort for at least 5-10 minutes to make sure your changes are stable.

Here is a basic list of measures to take before whining around the forums on how "clocks drop" and "framerate dips":

a) Disable all types of synchronization (VSync, freesync, adaptive/enhanced sync etc.) both in-driver and in-game;

b) Tutn off all overlays (steam/epic/whatever overlay, driver overlay, Afterburner/other, etc.) and try to monitor framerate through in-game means; if impossible, leave only one overlay instance for framerate monitoring (I would recommend Afterburner);

c) Go to control panel and turn off all disablable stuff in "Gaming" section;

d) In the game shortcut or .exe properties check "run as administrator" and "disable fullscreen optimizations";

e) Force minimum core clock in driver control panel to 2000MHz;

...

z) DDU and reinstall / install different version.

If all fails together, it's probably time to actually go ask for advice on the internet, since the problem might be more serious than an improperly configured system.

P.S. feel free to add more points to the list, I would make it a note and post when possible to every thread with similar contents but no explanation from OP what he did already to mitigate the trouble.

Why disable adaptive sync? What does this matter? With Nvidia I had no problems.. (coming from a RTX 3080). The RTX 3080 is performing a lot better in my opinion.

I don't want to tweak anything myself. Just want to leave it as it came out of the box. I didn't pay that much money for this performance. I thought the RX 6900XT was performing atleast like the RTX 3080, if not better. Well I think it's performing like an RTX 3060.

Well enjoy your sub-60 FPS then.
