radeon VII MGPU support

So I heard some review articles state crossfire is not supported on the Radeon VII? Is this true? It seems odd since Vega still had crossfire support in the drivers... I would imagine DX12/vulkan MPGU is still supported, correct?

Yes, Multi GPU is supported with the Radeon VII

I believe it was MultiGPU over the infinity fabric that was disabled?  MultiGPU over PCIe is available just like all other consumer GPUs

Multi-GPU is a standard of DX12 not the GPU card maker. The developer either chooses to support it or not. It is completely on the developer to support it in their engine.

Yes, but the Instinct MI50 supports interlink over infinity fabric, which has much higher bandwidth than traditional PCIe MultiGPU.  The infinity fabric interlink was disabled in the Radeon VII consumer card

OK, I was answering the OP's question. Thanks.

Indeed, some reviewers commented on the loss of MultiGPU as the OP stated, but that was specifically the high bandwidth Infinity Fabric interlink.  MultiGPU over PCIe works as normal.  That is likely where the confusion with the reviews is coming from.

It was my understanding that the applications for the infinity fabric is for direct bridge of GPU to CPU or even a second GPU also. So I guess it makes sense it isn't on an add in card as that meets none of that critera, unless it was an add in card with 2 GPUs with the infinity fabric connecting them together. At that point you would still be bottle necked by pcie.

Snap1.jpgBasically it is a higher bandwidth interlink like NVLink.  Unlike NVlink it is not available on the consumer GPU.
