I have a Radeon HD670 (2GB, GDDR5) and my operating system is Win7 64bit. Everything worked pretty fine all the time, but suddenly the fan increased his Speed to 100% and did not go down. I was just surfing in the internet, so there was no workload for the GPU. Even after a restart and a reinstallation of all drivers the fan constantly works at 100%.
I would be really happy if some of you know a solution.
Thanks in advance
Michael
Manually changing the fan speed has no effect?
Unfortunately it has no effect
Just use Afterburner to disable Automatic fan control and set it to around 40% or so. That should prevent the fan from spinning up for no reason.
I already downloaded MSI Afterburner und tried to change the Fan speed manually, but this had no effect :-(
Ok, have you tried a full uninstall of graphics drivers plus DDU in safe mode?
There's got to be something residual that's overriding the fan settings...
By any chance is your GPU overheating or has a very high idle temperature?
If for some reason the GPU's heat sink (fins) is dirty or the thermal paste went bad, the GPU card temperature can be high at idle thus the fan is running at 100%.
