Could be that 280X models had either UEFI vbios or legacy bios (check your make/model on techpowerup bios database).
Then whether your motherboard/cpu combo has uefi and/or legacy support, csm mode and disk format mbr or gpt.
Suppose you checked mobo bios setting for initial display first (or similar wording).
