PC freezes on motherboard logo when GPU is installed.

relevant specs:

Mobo: MSI Z490A PRO

GPU: MSI 5500xt Mech OC

PSU: EVGA Bronze 750w

Computer freezes on the MSI Pro Series logo when booting, and can only be booted in safe mode. When GPU is removed from socket, the PC functions perfectly. What could possibly be done to fix this?

First thing I would do is drop back to factory Optimized settings in BIOS.

And make sure you are not OC'ing the Graphics card.

If that works, gently work your way back to the settings you had, till you find the offenders.

It didn’t work, I reset all bios settings to default and it still froze.

Check the video card on another PC, if the problem persists, then the video card is over= (And the bios of the video card itself, not the bios of the motherboard, using the MSI Live Update 6 utility from under windows (in safe mode)

And here's another thing, do you have a squeaker speaker installed in your PC? It signals a PC problem after turning on if it is installed, then without a video card, you will have sound (1 time peak) If there is a problem, he will beep in a different way. Modern PCs do not have it, but old ones do (there are also small light indicators in the area of RAM, tiny LEDs when you turn on the PC, they light up when the processor of RAM and the video card are checked, if there is an error on the video card, one of the LEDs will remain lit). Have you connected additional power to the video card (8pin)?ez-bg.png

Boot through safe mode, and try to remove the driver on the video card if it is installed, or remove it without a video card. If the driver is not installed on the video card, then try to check for a new bios of the video card using the MSI Live Update 6 utility, I do not know if it will start in safe mode, since your video card should be inserted in the slot, as an option, try installing the video card in the slot below on the motherboard.
