Hi, I'm pretty sure nobody with decision making will read my post but I'll give my feedback here since I'm amazed about how bad your Adrenaline software & drivers are.
I mean, I've heard stuff but I'd never expected them to be so bad.
I've always been an nvidia user and since I wanted a gpu upgrade I said why not, let's see what AMD can offer me so I've just bought a 7900 GRE.
I had a rtx 3070 before I got this 7900 GRE (and my cpu is a 5700x3d).
So, just like a normal person would, I used DDU, replaced my old gpu with the new one, installed the drivers, did some benchmarks and then I started playing games.
Benchmark wise (3dmark) all 4 tests gave really good performances and I was quite happy but then.. the problems started to show up during gameplays. In ALL 8 games I tested ... it gave me horrible performances, more precisely constant stutters/microstutters and even if i had high fps it didnt feel smooth at all but the stutters were very annoying, it was literally unplayable (COD, CS2, PUBG, BF 2042. BF V etc).
I've seen plenty posts on different forums about 7800xt/7900gre/7900xt that have the same types of problems so I've been trying for the past 3 days to find a solution and to understand what is wrong with this gpu, watched tutorials, followed tens of guides, tried hundreds of different settings (OS wise/ bios wise/ andrenalie settings/auto detect and install/ latest and other previous drivers etc etc) but nothing worked.
Just today I've finally found a solution to get rid of all these microstutters, basicaly here are the steps:
- uninstal amd driver using ddu
- download 7900 gre driver from amd website (not the auto detect one)
- install ONLY the driver (not minimal, not full, just DRIVER ONLY)
- disable FTMP in bios
only following those steps fixed my ingame stutters. Not to mention the "driver only" version of install it gave me more FPS.
So basicaly in order for your gpu to run decent (as it should) we need to NOT install your 'recommended' drivers (adrenaline full install or minimal).
does your company even test these stuff before releasing? It's literally embarrassing and unacceptable!
Never had such a problem with nvidia and because I wasted almost 4 days with this, I'll never buy an AMD gpu ever again.
Fix your stuff, thanks.
