Just installed my new graphics card and having difficulty to get it to register. Won’t even show bios on boot up never mind getting to windows splash screen.

Tried a few things to date:

1) It works in my sons pc who is running purely a AMD with integrated graphics.
2) swapped back out for my old graphics card and this has consistently worked.
3) tried different power cables - no luck
4) tried reducing to one stick of ram - no luck
5) reset CMOS - no luck
6) updated bios to latest firmware - no luck
7) tried removing existing nvidia files via DDU - no luck
 changed to more standard resolution - no luck
9) Changed CSM to enabled - no luck
10) Ensured SVM is disabled.

It’s running on a Gigabyte motherboard (Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX, F17b). My sons is gigabyte too.

My processor unfortunately doesn’t have onboard graphics.  AMD Ryzen 9 5900X.

Currently running windows 10, 21H2 (10.0.19044).

I have a similar situation:  Gigabyte B550I, AMD Ryzen 5900X, and a Sapphire Pulse 7900XTX.   I cannot get anything on the display. I'm not even sure if it boots into BIOS, since I can't see.

Both of you guys should try a different monitor cable (HDMI, then Display Port) and then a different monitor (swap the monitors with your other computers).  If you have an old monitor or substandard cable, it can cause you problems.

BTW, My Gigabyte B550I is rev 1.2.

I tried the HDMI cable.  My monitor is a two-year old LG 4K, so should be fine.   That does not work, either.

Have updated BIOS and tried putting the GPU directly in the PCI slot.

I had the 7900XTX working with my previous motherboard, which was a B-450i.  That was using a PCIE-3.0 cable.  I am now using a PCIE-4.0 cable.

One other thing I noticed is that if I insert the PCI cable about halfway onto the GPU, the fans spin up.  But once I fully insert the cable, they stop.   Is that supposed to happen? It makes me think there is problem with either the motherboard or the GPU controller.

I'm wondering if there is some compatibility issue or trick to getting this particular board to work with this card?  But they have both been out long enough that any issues are likely already resolved.  

I know this is a shot in the dark. Just wondering if someone else has stumbled onto some weird thing related to the motherboard.

I'm pretty much at the point where I'm thinking I should take the PC into a shop and have them test the components, because I am tired of assembling and disassembling everything over and over.

You are suggesting that you are connecting the PCIe cable (Are we talking riser cable?) while the computer is powered up.  That is very dangerous to the components - namely the video card.  I suggest you try it again in the previous motherboard (B-450i) if that is working in another computer now.  

I know what you mean about getting tired of assembling and disassembling computers.  That's why I almost always build a system outside of the case first so I can make sure everything works before I screw things down into the case.
