In December of 2022 I purchased a 6700xt and a new motherboard. I installed them into my computer. Every time I turned on the computer from that point on there would be a high chance of constant stuttering that would end if i left the computer on for an hour or two. I assumed it had something to do with my PSU, since the recommended wattage was about 650 and I only had 450, so I waited until I could replace it. I have recently replaced the PSU with a 700W one, and I replaced my old 1TB slow hard drive with a 1TB SSD from WD, and the computer is actually significantly worse now. It no longer lags on startup, it lags when I play a game or sit on a process for too long. Over the past year I've tried every fix possible, I've done DDU multiple times, I've reinstalled Radeon drivers and software at least 30 times and deleted the old ones several times, I've factory reset the computer, completely reinstalled windows 10 and changed to windows 11, then completely reinstalled windows 11. I've taken apart the pc and put it back together several times to make sure everything is in the correct place, I don't know what could possibly be wrong with it. I've tried every single fix I could find over the past year and not a single thing has worked. The computer has basically become unusable since I put in the SSD, although boot times are extremely fast and everything loads instantly. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated, I don't even know what to try anymore, I'm getting ready to give up on this thing.


I installed the GPU and the motherboard at the same time. Here are the specs :
GPU - 6700xt
CPU - Ryzen 5 2600x
PSU - White 80 700W
RAM - 2x CORSAIR VENGENCE 3600MHZ (16gb total)
MB - TUF GAMING X570 PLUS (WI-FI)
Storage - 1TB WD Black SSN770 SSD, 1TB Western Digital USB hard drive (OS is on the SSD)

my old gpu and motherboard were a rx 580 and a B250. we don't have them anymore since its been a while

Part of your problem is that the CPU is bottle-necking or too weak because it can't keep up with the GPU card which is faster according to this FPS/Bottleneck website.

I went to two different Bottleneck websites and both indicates a CPU Bottleneck in excess of 17% @ 4k. That will cause lagging since the cpu can't keep up with the GPU's demand.

The stuttering I can't help except that there was an issue last year that fTPM would cause stuttering. That was supposed to be fixed by BIOS update though.

Game stuttering someone else would need to assist you.

I updated my bios the other day to the newest version so that's definitely not the problem. I am using FTPM though, should I get a physical one and see if it fixes ? Also, my CPU is not running high or hot at all when the computer begins lagging. It's only running about 20% util and 50 something degrees when the PC starts lagging. I should mention that it's the entire computer that is stuttering, like even the Razer lights on my keyboard and the ram and motherboard built in lights in my PC are lagging when the computer lags. I did a fresh reinstall of windows yesterday and it didn't help at all, I also put in my old RX 580 to see if it was my GPU and the lag persisted.

Your Stuttering probably isn't related to the fTPM issue.

I would download and run OCCT CPU,GPU, & PSU tests and see if your PC crashes or starts to have excessive stuttering.

Keep a close eye on temps, fan speeds, and PSU Outputs (3.3/5/12 Vdc) they all should be within 5% tolerances.

to clarify the computer was stuttering for the entirety of the test!

If the problem started after replacing the graphics card and motherboard, and you've since swapped out the graphics card and the problem persists, then it would seem to indicate something is amiss with the motherboard.

You've already installed the latest BIOS. Have you gone through the BIOS settings to make sure everything is set correctly for your components? XMP/EXPO enabled? Memory in correct slots? Graphics card in top PCIE slot? SSD in top M.2 slot? Have you tried disconnecting non-essential components like that USB drive and RGB lights?

Yeah I've tried all these things. I've disconnected everything except the mouse and keyboard and it doesn't help. I've tried the SSD in the top and bottom slot as well as the GPU. The memory are in the 2nd and 4th slots which is correct according to the motherboard manual. DOCP is enabled for me but when it was disabled it didn't fix the issue. What confuses me the most is that the lag on the old hard drive and the lag on the SSD are the same but occur at completely different times. The SSD lag is seemingly completely random while the hard drive lag only occurred for 1-2 hours when the PC would start up, sometimes not at all.

Did the original B250 motherboard have built-in Wi-Fi also or did you use a plug-in card? Have you tried disabling the Wi-Fi on the motherboard or switch to an alternate network adapter?

I'm not a big Asus fan, they make decent hardware but their BIOS is just... different, and confusing. While I hate to suggest throwing money at the problem, it may be helpful to try something like an inexpensive B550 board to see if you can rule that out.

I disabled the Wi-Fi a few times and even used a card and the lag persisted. 

I don't have the funds to purchase another board to see if it's the issue sadly.
