GPU panic constantly on 2019 macbook pro 16"

i am continually experiencing different GPU panic errors in which the computer will just shutdown mid-use. the screen will go black and the fan will spin at maxspeed for a second or so then the macbook completely shuts off. can anyone assist on this? potentially the drivers may need to be updated for the amd radeon 5500m that is in this machine but im unsure of how to do that. current os is ventura 13.6

I presume you don't have Windows Bootcamp installed and just using your MacOS Ventura 13.6 correct?

If using Windows Bootcamp here is AMD DOWNLOAD page for that : https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/apple-boot-camp

Also this unofficial Windows Boot camp website that uses the latest AMD driver and modifies it to be compatible on Mac PCs: https://www.bootcampdrivers.com/

If not using Windows Boot camp the only way to update your Laptop's AMD Driver is by updating your MacOS since the AMD Driver is integrated with the OS and can't be updated individually unlike Windows Boot camp environment.

According to this Apple Website that shows compatibility MacOS with varies Mac PC you can upgrade your Ventura OS to Cataline 10.5 version: https://eshop.macsales.com/guides/Mac_OS_X_Compatibility

By the way if your Laptop is shutting down by itself can indicate several issues:

1- Overheating issues

2- Power issues - Weak or insufficient power output

3- Defective hardware

4- Incompatible hardware or driver

5- Over or Under Clocking issues

6- Driver issues

Those are 6 main issues that comes to my mind at the moment.

EDIT: corrected Compatibility Chart to show the correct most current MacOS compatible with your Mac Laptop.

That's interesting that is says the version im running isnt supported. The only upgrade thats offered to me in the "software update" is 14.2.1. do i need to update to that first in order to update to version 15?

That is something you would need to ask  Apple Support about.

I am just going by the Compatibility Chart from that Apple website.

If you are able to update to the highest version of MacOS which is supposed to be Sonoma (misread the chart)  that would update your AMD driver for your AMD GPU Card in your laptop to probably close to the latest similar AMD driver for Windows Boot camp. just guessing though.

ill give that a try. i appreciate it.

Is it possible for you to post what Apple Support mentioned. I am sure there are many AMD Forum Users that uses Mac PC that might find it useful to know what they say.

Thanks and take care.
